Disney Springs checkout change quietly spreads to LEGO, Sephora and more third party shops

More Disney Springs third party stores have stopped taking Disney Gift Cards, rewards redemption cards and resort room charges.

A payment change that started at a handful of Disney Springs stores is now reaching more checkout counters. Guests using Disney Gift Cards, Disney Rewards redemption cards, or Disney resort room charges will now find fewer third party shops that accept them.

What changed at Disney Springs

More third party retail locations at Disney Springs have stopped accepting Disney Gift Cards, Disney Rewards redemption cards, and Disney resort room charges. The shift began with select stores in August and has continued to expand.

The LEGO Store is now among the locations no longer taking those Disney payment options, and signs posted near checkout are informing guests of the policy. Zara and Vera Bradley had already stopped accepting Disney Gift Cards. Sephora has since joined that group, ending acceptance of gift cards, redemption cards, and room charges as well.

Vuori, which opened at Disney Springs on the day of the latest update, is also not accepting those forms of payment. According to Guest Relations, the change is tied to updates in third party contracts. Based on that explanation, future stores opening at Disney Springs will most likely not take Disney payment methods either.

Who it affects, and where Disney payment still works

The change affects shoppers making purchases at certain third party stores in Disney Springs, especially guests who planned to use Disney-issued payment options outside Disney-owned retail.

So far, the policy has not spread to Disney Springs dining locations, and it has not affected third party shops inside the theme parks. Disney Gift Cards are still accepted at Disney-owned and operated locations, including Disney Stores and World of Disney.
