Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom Appears to Be Getting an Extended Queue in Piston Peak Model

A possible new overflow queue beside Haunted Mansion
The clue comes from the Piston Peak National Park model displayed during all three days of D23 Expo inside the Imagineering: Horizons pavilion. Imagineers built Frontierland and Liberty Square elements around the edges of the model to show how the new Cars-themed area connects to the existing park, and that added context puts Haunted Mansion right next to a newly shown tree-lined path.
In the model, Haunted Mansion’s current covered queue remains in place under the attraction’s awning. Beside it, a separate path appears to curve through a wooded strip between the mansion and Piston Peak. The route looks narrower than the main guest walkways and bordered by trees on both sides. It also appears self-contained rather than functioning as a path into Piston Peak itself, which points to a likely use as an overflow queue for Haunted Mansion.
If that is the plan, the change would matter most to two groups of guests: Haunted Mansion riders during busy periods, and parkgoers moving through the area once Piston Peak opens. The current extended queue setup has been shifting for much of 2026. The line has often stretched beyond the entrance archways and along Piston Peak construction walls toward the former Liberty Square Riverboat launch. A building that had been part of the extended queue area is now within the Piston Peak construction site, and it does not appear in the model.
The same area has already seen related changes this year. Land clearing for Villains Land began affecting the attraction’s outdoor queue in January. In July, construction was spotted on a building connected to Haunted Mansion’s overflow queue near the former Mike Fink Keel Boat landing, against the back of an existing Liberty Square facade.
No opening timing for this apparent queue addition is shown, but its purpose seems tied to the point when Piston Peak National Park and its new walkways begin sending more foot traffic past Haunted Mansion’s entrance. A separate wooded overflow path would give Disney a way to hold large crowds for the attraction without pushing that line into the new thoroughfares.
