Disney Cruise Line has announced a new documentary focused on the Disney Adventure, its newest ship and the biggest vessel in the fleet. Disney Adventure: Charting a New Course will debut Nov. 28, 2026 on Disney+, National Geographic TV and JioHotstar.

The film is set to explore how the ship came to life, and that origin is a major part of the hook for fans. The Disney Adventure began as the unfinished Global Dream, a ship originally ordered by Genting Hong Kong. Disney acquired the partially built vessel in 2022 after Genting collapsed, then refitted it to Disney Cruise Line designs. Work was completed with Meyer Werft in Wismar, Germany.

The ship’s road to service stretched across several milestones. It floated out of Meyer Werft’s hall in Wismar on April 19, 2025. Disney and Meyer Werft marked the legal handover in Bremerhaven on Dec. 13, 2025. The ship later reached Port Canaveral on Jan. 15, Los Angeles on Feb. 9, Tokyo on Feb. 24 and Singapore on March 3. Robert Downey Jr. christened the ship as its godparent on March 4, and guests began sailing on March 10.

Why the Disney Adventure stands out now

The documentary arrives with plenty of built in curiosity around the ship itself. Disney has described the Disney Adventure as the eighth ship in the fleet and its largest overall. On board are seven themed areas, the Broadway style musical Remember, and Ironcycle Test Run, described by Disney as the cruise line’s first roller coaster at sea.

The Singapore based ship now sails from Singapore on three and four night itineraries with days at sea. Disney also has a five year homeporting commitment there. At the ship’s christening, Josh D’Amaro said the Disney Adventure would help introduce Disney to audiences who may be experiencing its magic for the first time. Disney expects five more ships to join its global fleet by 2031.

Another change for travelers is already on the calendar. Beginning in December, Langkawi, Malaysia will become the Disney Adventure’s first port of call. The ship also carries Duffy and Friends offerings, including a store, the show Duffy and the Friend Ship, and a newly announced character breakfast.
