Nintendo’s New Ocarina of Time Remake Trailer Hides a Surprise Rematch Mode

Nintendo’s latest Ocarina of Time remake trailer reveals a new battle area, Zelda Notes app features and Amiibo extras before launch.

Nintendo has released a new four minute overview trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, offering its most detailed look yet at the Nintendo Switch 2 version. The game is set to arrive on November 5, 2026, and the new preview shows both familiar locations and several newly revealed extras.

The latest trailer is the fullest walkthrough Nintendo has shown so far for the remake, with gameplay spanning puzzles, enemies, areas and characters rebuilt for Nintendo Switch 2. It also makes clear that this is not just a visual refresh. In the clip below, Nintendo outlines several additions that go beyond the main story.

A closer look at what is new

Among the trailer’s bigger reveals is an extended look at the Deku Tree, along with glimpses of certain items and hints about how some of the game’s tougher puzzles can be tackled. Nintendo also highlights redesigned versions of multiple characters from the original game.

The biggest newly named addition is an area called "Hall of the Fallen Foes." According to the trailer details, it lets players revisit specific enemies and face them again in a rematch mode. That gives players a separate place to sharpen their approach against enemies they have already beaten in story mode, rather than leaving those encounters behind once they are done.

Phone app features and Amiibo bonuses

Nintendo also used the trailer to introduce "Zelda Notes," described as a section of the Nintendo Switch smartphone app. It includes clips of important gameplay from a particular day, quizzes and other features.

Two new Amiibo figures were revealed as well. Both unlock in game masks styled after the original Nintendo 64 graphics of Link’s face and Zelda’s face. Nintendo also says players will be able to tap other The Legend of Zelda Amiibo for extra items and help during the game.

The remake launches November 5, 2026, with preorders already available worldwide on Amazon for around $60 or £60. With less than a month to go, this trailer is Nintendo’s clearest picture yet of what returning players and newcomers can expect.
