There are countless things I can say about how great parents are: they are full of wisdom, they care deeply, and they love us very much. They're funny, and sometimes they can be embarrassing (but in a sweet kind of way).

Parents do everything to ensure their children are happy—even if that means dads have to dress up or engage in pretend play with their little girls. Parents know how to put together really good outfits... and sometimes they don't.

This is what 24 hours postpartum looks like. Baby in sling. Skin to skin. Adult diapers. And a rosy glow. My body feels like it ran a marathon and my heart is wide open from yesterday's travels. Birth opens us like an earthquake opens the earth and I am still in the intimate, fragile throes of that opening. I feel raw. Emotional. Different. I feel like I'm on the undulating surface of the rippling ocean being tossed back and forth between happiness, gratitude, melancholy, and grief. 25 hours ago I held life within and 24 hours ago I surged and transformed allowing life to flow through me, into my waiting hands. The emptiness in my womb brings a heavy feeling crashing into reality but then this new little life whimpers, searching for the breast with soft rooting, and I feel whole again. I am still processing the beautiful transition my whole family has traveled through and I am in complete awe of our strength as humans, women, and mothers. This time is simply unlike any other. #fourthtrimester

#postpartumbody – 63 weeks after the birth of my triplets. ⁣ ⁣ I fit all my old clothes again, and I only use shape wear when I am wearing tight tops and dresses or low waisted pants. There is more excess skin now, so sometimes I have the accidental slip of skin out from the top of my trousers. Ooops! 🤭⁣ ⁣ I still haven’t gotten used to see my belly in the mirror – it doesn’t feel like a part of my body, kind of? And I often find myself holding a hand over it in front of my husband, something I have never done before… ⁣ ⁣ Apart from that I don’t think too much about it – except for the moments when it feels uncomfortable, which happens especially in the evenings and with repeated lifting. I have been diagnosed with a pretty severe case of Diastasis recti, ⁣and I can clearly feel that something is wrong inside my belly. ⁣ For now I am excited for my next appointment at the hospital in February, to hear more about a potential surgery. And in the meantime the wrinkled belly is a good reminder of what great work my body did for carrying my three babies for as long as I possibly could – something that has been crucial for how well they are doing today. ❤️❤️❤️⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣

Who doesn't love Baby Yoda? My kids and I have been watching #TheMandalorian on #DisneyPlus and are so excited for every Friday to get here so we can watch a new episode! Growing up one of my favorite characters was Boba Fett, I was even the famous bounty hunter for Halloween one year. So needless to say I have loved this series. My kids are off school this week so I didn't make them a full meal. However, I just had to make a #BabyYoda sandwich (Yes I know it isn't actually Yoda, but until we find out its name Baby Yoda will have to do). A few sizes bigger and a million times happier. This can be scary for people, that if they stop dieting and obsessing about their body and everything they hate about it that they will turn out like I did. And to that I say: I could only wish that for you. Because what you see here is so much MORE than a physical change. Weight gain and loss do not and NEVER WILL equal happiness. The transformation I made was on the INSIDE. Something that never clicked with any 30 day program or 3 week quick fix or diet fad. A complete mental shift, a soulful reset. And when I consistently made heart centered choices the pounds and inches didn't matter any more- I have learned they will come and go through the ebbs and flows of life – but finding true peace and passion within yourself…that is immeasurable and will provide a lifetime of joy.
