Teagan Croft's New Rapunzel Video Has Tangled Fans Feeling Better About Disney's 2028 Remake

Disney fans wary of another live action redo have found an unexpected reason to keep watching Tangled. A new casual look at Teagan Croft in Rapunzel costume has made the 2028 remake feel a little more promising.

Fandango shared a video of Croft away from the movie cameras, dancing in a parking lot in Rapunzel's floor-length purple dress, with extremely long blonde hair and white Crocs. In the clip below, the biggest takeaway is not a polished princess pose. It is that Croft seems comfortable being a little goofy, which is a big part of why fans connected with Rapunzel in the 2010 animated film.

That matters because Tangled was never only about the hair, the tower or the visual spectacle. Rapunzel worked because she was funny, awkward, emotional, adventurous and sometimes ridiculous, while Flynn Rider and Mother Gothel brought their own distinct energy. A quick off-set video cannot tell anyone whether the finished film will succeed, but it does offer an encouraging sign that Disney may be trying to preserve the character's playful personality instead of simply recreating her look.

What else we know about Disney's Tangled

This is not the first glimpse fans have had of the remake. Production in Spain has already produced unofficial photos and videos of Croft and Milo Manheim, who is playing Flynn Rider. Those images have shown costumes, parts of the environments being built for the film and Rapunzel's very large blonde braid.

Disney added official material at D23 in August. The footage teased Rapunzel through her signature blonde hair before revealing Croft, and Kathryn Hahn also appeared as Mother Gothel. Hahn has spoken positively about the chemistry between Croft and Manheim.

Michael Gracey remains attached to direct, with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson writing the screenplay. Croft, Manheim and Hahn are set to bring three of the animated movie's most recognizable characters into live action. Disney currently plans to release Tangled on March 31, 2028.

That does not end the wider debate over Disney's remake strategy, especially among fans who would rather see new stories and characters. But with remakes, sequels and live action adaptations still part of the studio's plans, these early looks at Tangled suggest Disney understands that visual accuracy alone will not be enough. For now, the change is simple: fans have a more hopeful read on Rapunzel, and the movie is still on the calendar for 2028.
