It's almost that time of year when (almost) everyone wears as little clothing as possible on a cold, dark night and celebrates the spookiest day of the year: Halloween. There are many iconic characters who are practically synonymous with the season of horror, including ghosts, vampires, and Frankenstein.

Still, none of these characters quite compare to the human fascination with witches, which significantly contributes to witches being one of the most popular Halloween costumes year after year. Perhaps that's why Elizabeth Pich and Jonathan Kunz worked together to create their comic series Slutty Witch? In discussing the empowerment of female characters, relationship expert Dr. Laura Berman states, "Empowering female characters in media helps to reshape societal views on femininity and sexuality, allowing women to embrace their identities fully."

In an interview, Pich and Kunz elaborated:

"The character had been spooking around in our heads for a while. We’d been wanting a slutty, empowered female character for some time. ‘Slut’ and ‘witch’ are two words that have been reclaimed and redefined to represent aspects of femininity such as freedom and power. We liked that."

"She definitely knows what she wants and takes no nonsense from anybody. She’s also open-minded and a good friend. She reminds us of many kick-ass women we know. Her only vice? Probably all the hot, distracting sex she’s having."
