Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato just turned a Disney Channel throwback into a Rare Beauty launch

Selena Gomez reunites with Demi Lovato for a Rare Beauty blush campaign inspired by Disney Channel's Princess Protection Program.

A Disney Channel favorite is suddenly part of a new beauty rollout. Selena Gomez has reunited with Demi Lovato for Rare Beauty’s latest campaign, and the visuals lean directly into their shared Princess Protection Program history.

A Rare Beauty launch built around a Disney reunion

Rare Beauty’s newest campaign pairs Gomez with Lovato, bringing the former Disney Channel co-stars back together for a product push that also doubles as a nostalgia play for longtime fans.

The campaign is called "Still Making Each Other Blush," and it centers on the two stars’ longtime friendship as much as the makeup itself. Rare Beauty introduced a Delena Soft Pinch Blush Bundle for the campaign, using the "Delena" nickname that fans gave Gomez and Lovato during their Disney Channel years.

The change here is straightforward: Rare Beauty has tied a new blush bundle to a high profile reunion between Gomez and Lovato. That affects fans of both performers, Disney Channel viewers who remember their earlier work together, and Rare Beauty shoppers following the brand’s latest release.

Why Disney fans will recognize the imagery

The campaign photography points back to Princess Protection Program, the 2009 Disney Channel Original Movie starring both actresses. In that film, Lovato played Princess Rosalinda, who leaves her country after General Magnus Kane launches a coup. She is moved to rural Louisiana by the International Princess Protection Program and takes on the identity of Rosie Gonzalez, presented as the cousin of Gomez’s character, small town tomboy Carter Mason.

The new promotional material echoes that project, turning a beauty campaign into a callback to one of the pair’s best known Disney collaborations. They also appear together in a promotional video with a distinctly 2000s style, further underlining the throwback angle.

What Gomez and Lovato said about it

Lovato described the campaign as a full circle moment, saying she and Gomez have shared many memories since childhood. She also said she had been a fan of Gomez’s liquid blush since Rare Beauty launched and that working together on set felt like being back in their old bedrooms, making YouTube videos and experimenting with makeup.

Gomez said her experiences with Lovato are unlike any others and called the campaign a reminder of their shared history, while also celebrating who they are now.

Their connection goes back even earlier than Disney Channel. Gomez and Lovato first met as children while waiting in line to audition for Barney and Friends, a show they both later appeared in. That history is now at the center of Rare Beauty’s latest launch.
