Disney Channel was supposed to be the safe, cozy corner of childhood TV, the place where after-school reruns and original movies felt comforting and familiar. For a lot of viewers, it was all singalongs, sleepovers, and favorite characters that seemed impossible to outgrow.
But some Disney Channel episodes and movies went far darker than anyone expected. Between bullying, racism, eating disorders, cults, and other heavy storylines, these moments hit harder in hindsight than they did when we were kids.
