Should I Have Told My Friend About Her Crushs Feelings? AITA at 29
AITA for revealing my friend's crush's feelings for me? A tricky situation unfolds as honesty creates tension in a friendship triangle.
Emma thought she was just sitting with a harmless crush. Then one group hangout turned into a full-on emotional crime scene, and suddenly OPs love triangle started to look like a domino effect.
Here’s the messy setup: Emma, a close friend of OP, confided that she likes their mutual friend Chris. She was stuck on whether to tell him, worried it would blow up their friendship. Meanwhile, OP noticed Chris acting different, constantly seeking him out, laughing hard at his jokes, and basically orbiting him all night.
When Emma pulled OP aside and asked if Chris had feelings for him, the truth felt like the only option, until it wasn’t.

So I'm (29M) in a bit of a sticky situation and I need some outside perspective on this. A close friend of mine, let's call her Emma, recently confided in me about having a crush on our mutual friend, Chris.
Emma has been struggling with whether or not to confess her feelings to Chris, as she's worried about potentially ruining their friendship. Flash forward to a group hangout where it became quite obvious that Chris was showing more interest in me than usual.
He was constantly seeking me out in conversations, laughing at all my jokes, and just overall acting different. I could see Emma getting more and more upset as the evening went on, and eventually, she pulled me aside and asked if I thought Chris had feelings for me.
I didn't want to lie to her, so I told her the truth - that I think Chris might like me romantically. Emma was crushed and immediately left the gathering.
She hasn't been responding to my messages since then. I feel terrible for potentially causing a rift between Emma and Chris, but I also didn't want to lie to her.
So, AITA for telling Emma the truth about Chris's feelings for me?

It’s like the friend who accidentally exposed her secret relationship with the crush, sparking group drama.

Emma already had her doubts before the hangout, and Chris’s sudden focus on OP made those doubts explode in real time.
As Chris kept steering conversations toward OP and laughing like it was a private show, Emma’s face apparently said everything she couldn’t.
The second Emma asked, “Do you think Chris likes you romantically?” OP had to choose between honesty and protecting Emma’s feelings.
Now Emma is ignoring OP’s messages, and the big question is whether OP’s truth accidentally pushed a wedge between Emma and Chris.

OP didn’t lie, but he may have still set off the worst possible chain reaction.
