Disney+ Has Disney Channel Cult Favorite So Weird, but 4 Episodes Are Missing
Disney+ is streaming all three seasons of So Weird, though the service currently lists 61 of the show's 65 episodes.
One of Disney Channel’s strangest early originals is sitting on Disney+ right now, with a catch. So Weird, the paranormal series that mixed family road trip energy with ghosts, aliens and other unexplained sightings, is available to stream, but the episode count does not appear to be complete.
What Disney+ viewers are getting
So Weird, which originally aired on Disney Channel from 1999 to 2001, is currently streaming on Disney+. The series premiered on Jan. 18, 1999, and D23 lists its final episode as Sept. 2, 2001.
D23 says the show produced 65 episodes across three seasons. Disney+ currently lists 61 episodes total, broken out as 13 episodes for Season 1, 24 for Season 2 and 24 for Season 3. That means four episodes are not presently included on the service. The missing installments have not been identified, and no reason has been confirmed for the gap.
For Disney fans who missed it the first time, the show follows Fi Phillips, played by Cara DeLizia, a teenager fascinated by the paranormal. She travels with her mother, Molly, a musician played by Mackenzie Phillips, as the family tours the country by bus with their friends, the Bells. At each stop, Fi finds herself chasing unusual phenomena, including ghosts, aliens and Bigfoot. A 1999 trade review also pointed to stories involving angels, witches and ESP.
The series was created by Tom J. Astle, according to its Disney+ credits. Henry Winkler was among its executive producers. The cast also included Patrick Levis as Fi’s brother Jack and Erik von Detten as Clu Bell.
Season 3 is where the lineup changes most noticeably. On the show, Fi leaves for school, according to D23, and Alexz Johnson joins the series as Annie, a family friend who moves in with the Phillips family and takes over as the lead.
So Weird has often been remembered as an unusually spooky Disney Channel series from before Wizards of Waverly Place and Hannah Montana. For anyone curious about that corner of the channel’s history, the show is available to stream on Disney+ now, just not quite in full.
