Modern Family's Sofia Vergara and True Blood's Joe Manganiello Announce Their Divorce After Seven Years of Marriage
"When you know, you know, and we knew right away — like, very quickly."
One of Hollywood's favorite couples has called it quits after seven years of marriage. Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello are divorcing, according to their statement to Page Six.
The actors met at the White House Correspondents' Dinner in May 2014 through their mutual friend Jesse Tyler Ferguson. Event photographers actually caught Manganiello staring at Vergara's butt during the occasion.
The Modern Family actress was engaged to businessman Nick Loeb at that time, but she ended things with Loeb later that month.
As soon as the news of Vergara's relationship became public, Manganiello asked Jesse Tyler Ferguson for her phone number. He then flew to New Orleans to take the actress out on their first date.
Their relationship was finally confirmed in August of that same year, and the True Blood actor asked Vergara to be his wife in December 2014.
Manganiello stated in an interview that he quickly knew Vergara was "the one" for him. They tied the knot at their star-studded ceremony in November of the following year.
Their marriage was hailed as successful by the public in the years following their wedding, as the couple frequently shared how happy they were together. Not even the coronavirus lockdown frayed their bond, which is one of the reasons why this news has come as such a huge blow to their hopeful fans.
Fans began speculating about the status of their marriage when photos of Vergara's birthday trip to Italy were posted on her Instagram account

Their many admirers couldn't help but comment on Vergara's posts to ask her where Manganiello was

Initially, fans were convinced that he couldn't be with her due to acting engagements, an understandable conflict of schedule for celebrity couples.

Once the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes were underway, fans became more skeptical about the scheduling excuse

This news came as a surprise to many, but on the other hand, more diligent Instagram followers noticed trouble in paradise much earlier. The couple, through their representatives, asked fans to respect their privacy while they navigate this new phase in their relationship.
We may all be heartbroken on their behalf, but boundaries must be respected.
