Please Don't Ever Peel These 12 Foods
This is what my food-related nightmares are made of.
Some foods look perfectly normal until you start peeling them, and then the whole thing gets weird fast. A pomegranate, a lime, even a raw egg can go from everyday kitchen item to something far less appetizing once the outer layer is gone.
This roundup leans into that exact moment of surprise, moving from familiar produce to a few foods that are best left untouched. The lineup gets stranger as it goes, and a few of these are a lot more unsettling than you might expect.
By the end, you may never look at your fruit bowl the same way again.
1. Pomegranate
Surely you have something better to do with your time than warp our brains with this tomfoolery?
ImgurThis one gets messy fast.
2. Blueberries
A peeled blueberry? This is why we can't have nice things.
Reddit3. Avocado... unripe.
This is just infuriating. A perfectly good avocado wasted because someone couldn't wait two more days and approximately two additional minutes.

4. Tomato
This looks disturbingly like human flesh...

That is not the usual way to see it.
5. Coconut
I'm not even mad... I'm just impressed that someone took the time and effort to peel a coconut.

6. Limes
Oranges, sure. Limes? No way, José!

7. Raw Egg
It's a funny way to peel anything, but we're totally freaked out by this shell-free, raw egg!

Some things are better left sealed.
Peeling the wrong thing is nothing compared to the restaurant that served children insect spray instead of cranberry juice, and got hit with a $28,000 fine here.
8. Strawberry
On what planet is this a normal thing to do? Definitely not Earth.

9. Lemon
This was completely unnecessary.

10. Cherry
This is trippy... it looks almost as much like human flesh as the tomato did. Yikes!

11. Lychee
This looks like it belongs in a craft fair, not in someone's mouth.

The last few are especially hard to unsee.
12. Aloe Vera Leaf
Cutting aloe vera leaves and extracting the jelly-like substance is totally normal. Peeling it and having a jelly-like leaf is not normal.

Some foods really do look better in their skins.
