Man From Australia Helps His Tinder Date Give Birth On Their Fourth Date
"The birth was the peak point of our relationship; it bonded us."
Life can be funny sometimes. Alyssa Hodges, 20, and Max Silvy, 25, were on their fourth date when Alyssa started feeling contractions. Max was a rock and didn't let his fear show while helping her give birth to baby Ollie last September.
Alyssa was supposed to pick up Max, a civil servant, from the airport when her water broke. They had to change their rendezvous spot and meet at the hospital instead.
Alyssa gave birth to a healthy, beautiful boy, and Max was by her side all along. The pair claims that their unusual circumstances have "bonded" them, as Max supported Alyssa during her first weeks as a mother when she was experiencing "baby blues."
They've decided to live together now. Despite their families' initial reservations about the pair becoming so close so quickly, they now have their full support.
“I was about six and a half months pregnant when I went on Tinder, and I clearly stated that in my bio,” said Alyssa, who is from Brisbane. “I didn’t want to lead anyone on, so I was being open and honest.
I wanted them to know what they were getting into right off the bat. Max travels a lot for work, so we’d only seen each other three times before he ended up coming to my birth." “On the day I went into labor, I was meant to be picking Max up from the airport as he was returning from a work trip. That was the plan, but I ended up texting him saying, ‘I’m so sorry, you’ll have to get a taxi. I’m going into labor.’He hopped into a taxi when he got off the plane and came to the hospital to be there for me. My mum was also there supporting me, but she had a holiday, so she was here and there. Max was there for me through the whole labor and birth.Alyssa told reporters her labor lasted “on and off” for about a week. “I’d be sent home and come back into the hospital for a period of four to five days,” she explained. “I was contracting during those days, and Max was with me the whole time. The birth itself lasted about seven hours.”

Alyssa admitted that motherhood was a big change for anyone, especially a young person, but Max taking a week off work had “really helped.”
“I had the baby blues. I was really upset and didn’t know what I was doing. I felt alone, and Max carried me through that week. Every time I couldn’t do something, Max picked me up.He’s set me up to succeed in motherhood. Even though I knew I liked him at the time, anything could have happened. I’d just been in a relationship where I thought it would last, and it didn’t.So I did think, ‘What if this doesn’t work out?’ but it has, and it was the best decision. I don’t regret it.”Max says that Alyssa’s pregnancy was not really an issue for him, but he admits that being there for the birth made him feel “anxious.” “There was something that caught my eye about Alyssa,” he said.
“Normally I wouldn’t swipe right on a pregnant girl, but there was just something about her. I wouldn’t say the experience was overwhelming, but I was anxious.I hadn’t prepared mentally the way Alyssa had, so coming in late [like I did] was a rapid process. Anxiety was the biggest thing. There were so many unknowns, so many things that I didn’t know about becoming a dad. There’s a lot of learning that comes with being a new dad, but Ollie and I are bonding quite well.”Alyssa said her mom wasn’t sure about the idea of Max being with Alyssa at the birth and advised her to think it over.
“My family was taken aback by our relationship,” she said. “When I told my mum that Max was with me at the hospital, she was very hesitant about it.”She was saying, ‘What if you guys break up?’ She didn’t understand why anyone would want to be with someone who was pregnant and take on such a big responsibility. She told me I needed to think carefully about it. But at the same time, she was saying Max was a lovely guy and she hoped it would work out for us.”
Alyssa shared her story on TikTok, and since then, she’s been swamped with comments from women wanting to know how she found a man like Max.
“On TikTok, everybody is asking if Max has a brother, calling him ‘man of the year’ and saying we were the cutest little family,” she said.“It was a great reaction. These days, there are a lot of unfortunate stories about men who leave when the woman becomes pregnant. Then here’s someone who comes in while you’re pregnant and is very actively involved in raising the child. It’s unheard of. I’m very lucky.”The couple has been raising Ollie together and plans to move in together very soon.
“I think being there for the birth helped Max’s relationship with Ollie too, as he was able to see him come into the world,” Alyssa said.“He already plays such an important role in Ollie’s life, but it really helps that he was there. We’re in the process of moving in together, and we’re very excited. We only lived 20 minutes apart, so we’d take turns being at each other’s houses. Ollie loves Max so much. There will be times when he won’t want me; he’ll want Max.He’ll be crying, and the minute Max takes him, he’s happy and smiling. Max is definitely the favorite.”Max has become one of the most favorite men in the world. People, especially women, are so impressed by his behavior and morals.
One TikTok user asked, “Does Max have a brother by any chance?”
Another commenter said, “That’s a man! What a keeper!! I hope you have many years together.”
“So, so special. What an amazing man. Wish he was my dad,” another user commented.
