Man Gets Roasted Online For Uninviting His SIL To His Wedding Because His Mother Is "Weirdly Jealous" Of Her

Never punish the victim, as that would mean enabling the abuser.

Most women, if not all, hope and pray to have a good mother-in-law. When your husband’s mother isn’t kind to you and makes it obvious, she is bound to cause trouble. Well, the mother-in-law in today’s story is one of those you would hope never to encounter.

A Reddit user named u/Thowawymomdrama has taken to the AITA Reddit Community to share his story, as he feels stuck between a rock and a hard place. According to his account, his mom became "weirdly jealous" of his elder brother’s girlfriend, making snarky comments to her face and speaking ill of her behind her back.

Things escalated, and the OP’s mother actually ruined his elder brother’s wedding. She changed for the better after OP’s SIL announced she was pregnant but reverted to her original self when OP’s SIL gave birth to a girl.

Her behavior caused OP’s elder brother and his wife to distance themselves from her, but here comes the major issue: the OP wants to get married, and his brother agreed to be his best man.

Everything was going fine until the OP’s fiancée revealed that her mother was planning to put her SIL in her place during the wedding. To avoid unnecessary commotion on his wedding day, he uninvited his SIL, which his elder brother did not take kindly to.

Planning a wedding and deciding who gets to come is never easy, especially if there’s already existing family drama. But then again, have you ever wondered what type of mother-in-law you would be to your son’s wife or daughter’s husband?

Anyways, do you think the OP was wrong in his approach to this situation? Leave a reply in the comments section.
