This Former Child Actor Quietly Became One of the Wealthiest in Hollywood
He became an entrepreneur and even ran for President of the United States in 2020.
Hollywood has a long history of child actors fading from the spotlight, but now and then, someone flips the script. One former kid star from a '90s classic ended up trading movie sets for massive investments, and today, he's one of the wealthiest figures in the entertainment business, just not in the way you’d expect.
Back in 2017, Margot Robbie talked about her obsession with ice hockey, explaining how watching The Mighty Ducks inspired her to join a team when she first moved to the U.S. The 1992 Disney film had a huge impact on many people.
It told the story of a down-and-out lawyer, played by Emilio Estevez, who ends up coaching a kids' hockey team. It was fun, inspiring, and a major hit, pulling in over $50 million at the box office and kicking off a full-on franchise with sequels, merchandise, and even theme park rides.
One of the young actors in that movie was Brock Pierce, who also starred in First Kid alongside Sinbad in 1996. But while many child actors stay in the industry or quietly fade from the public eye, Pierce took a completely different route. After wrapping up his acting career with the 1997 TV movie Legend of the Lost Tomb, he left Hollywood behind.
Brock Pierce is a former child actor turned American entrepreneur.
That instinct paid off even more when he got involved with Bitcoin. He became an early investor in cryptocurrency and rode the wave as it exploded in value, eventually helping him build a net worth estimated between $700 million and $1.1 billion. Not bad for a guy whose first claim to fame was a youth hockey movie.
If his name still doesn’t ring a bell, you might remember when he made headlines for running for U.S. president in 2020, with musician Akon as part of his campaign team. He didn’t exactly come close to winning, earning just 0.03% of the vote, but the campaign added another layer to his unusual public life.
In 2021, Pierce played a leading role in the delegation that helped push Bitcoin to become legal tender in El Salvador, a first for any country. On top of his crypto ventures, he's also the founder of ZAM, a company that focuses on video game communities and publishing platforms.
InstagramEarlier this year, the ex-star welcomed Wendy Williams to stay and focus on healing.
More recently, Pierce made headlines again, this time for something more personal. In early 2024, he offered his home as a haven for Wendy Williams, the former TV host who has been battling serious health and legal issues related to her financial conservatorship.
Williams had been placed under guardianship in 2022 after concerns about her mental health and finances.
"I’ve always admired Wendy’s strength," Pierce wrote. "When I saw her in need, I felt compelled to offer my support."He stated that his home would provide her with peace and full-time medical care, emphasizing that she needed a calm place to begin her healing.
"Wendy is a national treasure," he added, "and it’s time we show her the kindness she’s given others for years."As for where that home is, take your pick. Pierce reportedly owns properties in Amsterdam, Puerto Rico, New York City, Washington D.C., and even a repurposed ocean liner in Portugal.

And he’s still not slowing down. Just last month, he announced a new diplomatic role as an Ambassador to Central America for the Permanent Mission of the House of Feigenblatt to the Central American Parliament.
He shared the news on Instagram, thanking the House of Feigenblatt for their trust and expressing his eagerness to create "new opportunities for growth and partnership" in the region.
Brock Pierce’s path hasn’t followed any traditional playbook. From Disney movies to crypto millions, a failed presidential bid to global diplomacy, it’s one of those rare stories that keeps getting stranger the longer you follow it. And he doesn’t seem to be done yet.
Dr. Salman Khan, founder of Khan Academy, emphasizes the importance of continuous education and reinvention, especially for former child actors transitioning into new careers. He states, 'Lifelong learning is crucial in today’s fast-paced world, as it empowers individuals to adapt and thrive in various fields.'
For those looking to pivot careers, Khan suggests leveraging existing skills while acquiring new ones through online courses or workshops. This approach has proven effective for many in the entertainment industry who seek to build businesses or enter politics.
According to financial expert Dave Ramsey, successful wealth management is pivotal for anyone, including former child stars who have amassed wealth unexpectedly. He stresses that understanding budgeting, investment strategies, and good debt management are fundamental.
Ramsey recommends creating a financial plan that prioritizes savings and diversifies investments. By doing this, individuals can secure their financial future and avoid the pitfalls that often accompany sudden wealth, such as lifestyle inflation and poor investment choices.
