18 Alarming Facts Listed By An Individual Which Shows How Our World Was Not Designed For Women
What's the significance for a woman living her daily life in a world that is predominantly designed by men?
Some stories make a point without trying too hard, and this one lands fast. A Twitter thread from Harvard sophomore Karly Hou argues that everyday life is still built around a male default, and the examples are hard to ignore.
She points to everything from cell phones and cars to medical care, protective gear, and even the language people use when women report harm. The thread has sparked a bigger conversation about how often women are expected to adapt to systems that were never built with them in mind.
And once you start looking at the list, it is hard to unsee it.
Meet the sophomore at Harvard, Karly Hou, who has shared an enlightening thread about the world being designed to be unfriendly towards women.

From longer wait times at the restroom to cell phones that simply don't fit female hands, these are some of the frustrating things women have to navigate. Some, however, can be truly deadly, like wearing protective clothing that does not accommodate female proportions or misdiagnosing heart conditions in female patients.

Socially, it is still said that "women claim" or "allege" that they were sexually assaulted. Those accused 'deny what was claimed.'
What if we changed the emphasis and said that survivors "report" and the accused "claim" or "allege" that it didn't happen? Before #MeToo, society had tagged the male accused while framing women’s cases as suspect.
The issue takes us to the fact that gender bias has been an unconscious matter that we have all been affected by since the beginning. Part of the process of unlearning it is feminism.
However, it requires more radical changes in thinking as we outline the default male concept as inherently problematic.
