Marvel’s Zodiac Sparks Big MCU Spy Theories as New Disney+ Casting Details Emerge
Marvel’s Zodiac is reportedly casting three British leads, starts production in London in spring 2027, and is set for Disney+ in 2028.
The first concrete details on Marvel’s Zodiac have already kicked fan theorizing into high gear. What began as a mysterious reveal now looks like a much larger Disney+ espionage series, with new casting information, a darker tone, and a timeline that points to a 2028 launch.
Marvel fans finally have something more substantial to latch onto with Zodiac, and the immediate takeaway is scale. New story and casting details point to a darker Disney+ series built around espionage, with the kind of international scope that could touch multiple corners of the MCU’s long-running network of spies, agencies and covert groups.
In the clip below, Marvel Television chief Brad Winderbaum describes Zodiac as a globetrotting international espionage show centered on secrets, lies, betrayals, secret acts of loyalty and an insane cast of characters.
The development update is notable on its own. The series is reportedly casting two male British leads and one female British lead, all of them original characters created for the show. It has also been described as darker in tone, with one comparison pointing to The Americans. Other early descriptions have likened it to The X-Files, suggesting a story that could juggle individual cases while building toward a larger mystery.
There is also a schedule for fans to circle. Production is slated to begin in London in spring 2027, and the series is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2028.

Why the logo has fans looking at Marvel’s spy world
Part of the excitement comes from how Zodiac was introduced. Marvel unveiled the project at New York Comic Con with a logo that incorporated a modified S.H.I.E.L.D. insignia, and Winderbaum encouraged people to study the design for clues.
That has fueled theories that the series could draw on the Great Wheel from Jonathan Hickman’s Secret Warriors. In the comics, the Great Wheel is a secret society of 12 intelligence operatives, each linked to a zodiac sign. The group has ties to Nick Fury and covert connections to S.H.I.E.L.D., HYDRA, Leviathan and the Hand, and it is also connected to the creation of Life Model Decoy technology.
If Zodiac is pulling from that material, it would help explain why the project is already being talked about as a potentially major crossover point for Marvel’s spy side. The MCU has spent years establishing intelligence agencies and shadow organizations across films and television, and this setup could give many of them a reason to intersect.
No cast members have been announced yet beyond the reported search for those three British leads. But between the London production base, the 2028 Disney+ target, and Winderbaum’s promise of a large character lineup, Zodiac has quickly become one of Marvel’s more intriguing development stories.
