Digimon World’s PS1 return is coming from fans, not Bandai, and it adds more than 150 new Digimon
A fan remake of PS1 hit Digimon World is in development as Digimon World Forge, with HD visuals, new modes and no release date yet.
One of the best remembered Digimon games from the PlayStation era is getting an unexpected second life. A fan remake of Digimon World is now in development under the name Digimon World Forge, with a new trailer saying only that it is "coming soon."
In the clip below, the trailer uploaded this week to the Digimon World Forge YouTube channel gives fans their first proper look at the project.
What changed is simple: instead of an official remaster or remake from Bandai, a fan-made version is on the way for players who still hold up the original PS1 release as a high point for Digimon games. The original Digimon World sold more than 1,000,000 copies on PlayStation, and it is still widely recommended to retro players who want to revisit that period of the series.
There is no official launch date yet. For now, the only timing attached to the project is the trailer’s "coming soon" message.
What the remake says it will add
Digimon World Forge is being pitched as more than a visual touch-up. The project promises HD and widescreen graphics, more than 150 new Digimon, 34 new Mega forms, new tournaments, and two-player battles.
It also lists two single-player modes, Vanilla and Eremenko, along with four difficulty options for players looking for a tougher run. Extra challenge settings are planned too, including Nuzlocke, one life, and more.
Players will be able to adjust the presentation with AI upscaling, CRT filters, and hybrid models, depending on how they want the game to look. Many evolution scenes have been rebuilt, and egg hatching is included with designs taken from Digimon World: Next Order.
One more detail attached to the project is that its development has involved AI assistance. Beyond that, the release window remains open ended, with no confirmed date yet.
