20+ Things Adults Convince Children Are Impossible But Are Actually Not Far From Reality
“She told one of her students that men would never walk on the moon. We all know how that ended.”
As kids, you start off not knowing much. You rely on your surroundings and trust adults when they say what’s true and what’s not.
What they say goes. You trust that they’ve had enough experience to navigate the world without lying, especially to children.
Then you grow up and discover that, for whatever reason they had, some of what they said wasn’t true. The questions you once asked that they claimed were unrealistic were, in fact, possible.
To be fair, the things they said might have stemmed from their own beliefs, but most of the time, they may have told you things weren’t possible to stop the endless questions. Sometimes the reason might have been to prevent you from trying a trick that could end up hurting you.
Your perspective would then shift, and you’d feel like you’ve been missing out. You find out that people can go to the moon, and no, turning on the backseat light while driving will not result in instant death.
Now it’s your choice whether to pursue the things they told you were impossible or embark on a learning spree to see what else they might have been misleading you about. You could be that adult who tells the truth when a child asks you about it.

There would be many things that seem unrealistic in their eyes, but they speak from their experiences. A lot of adults, however, who have answered the thread encourage people to challenge themselves, especially those who have been told that they couldn’t achieve what they want.
Were you told that something was unrealistic when you were a kid? How did you find out that it was actually possible?
