Creative Person Doesn't Want To Support Friend's AI Music Career, Believes It Is Cheating
"It takes away from the creative process and craftsmanship"

As it becomes more and more ingrained in the lives of millions of people, artificial intelligence is making astounding breakthroughs. Even in the music industry, AI is making waves.
By facilitating the quick creation of songs, customization of suggestions, and improvement of production procedures, artificial intelligence is radically changing the music business. We have an AI-inspired story today, and the OP just had to bring it to the AITA subreddit community.
The OP has this friend who likes to make music. She would write her own music & lyrics and play them on a guitar. The OP says her friend has always been alright at both but never brilliant.
And then comes the AI music tool, which OP's friend discovered and started using. You only needed to feed it with prompts and lyrics, and it'll spit out whatever genre and style you like with AI-generated instruments and vocals.
Although certain AI-generated musicians are already becoming well-known on streaming services, human emotion and subtle creativity continue to be a crucial difference. Even though AI tools can produce music in response to text cues and even imitate well-known musicians, the OP feels it takes away from the creative process and "craftsmanship" of making music.
So you can imagine OP's response when her friend wanted her to support her "music career." OP's friend actually fancies the songs she's created with the AI so much that she's started a campaign for them.

And the OP writes:

OP's friend has always been alright at both but never brilliant

OP feels it takes away from the creative process and "craftsmanship"

She's published an album on Spotify and advertises for it on Instagram

OP has offered the following explanation for why they think they might be the a**hole:
I have refused to promote my friend's music because I disagree with the creative process. That might make me an a**hole friend. And the comments roll in...

She created nothing

The AI generated music

It's not her music career

"Do not support AI"

A friend that is a failed hack

Using plagiarised slop

It doesn't really matter

The OP doesn't need to be a cheerleader

Art AI should be shunned

The computer wrote the lyrics

She is not a musician

AI music is surprisingly good

Using AI erodes talent

"AI is killing our environment"

The OP's not a bad friend

She's a lyricist at best

The OP should be applauded

Realistically, and depending on how competent the program is, some Redditors believe that if OP's friend ever takes off, people will find out that she’s using AI. This will, at a minimum, be embarrassing and at worst, career-ending.
Still, some people actually enjoy AI music, but the OP has every right to not support her friend since she doesn't like what she's doing. The OP was declared not the AH, and you can drop your own verdict in the comments section below.
