AITA for banning my sisters dog from my house?

AITA for banning my sister's unruly dog from my house? Opinions split as I stand firm against hosting pets, sparking family dispute over boundaries.

In today’s Reddit thread, we dive into a family dispute that raises questions about personal boundaries, pet ownership, and hospitality expectations. The original poster (OP) finds themselves at odds with their sister after refusing to let their sister's boisterous dog into their home.

The canine in question is described as large and rambunctious, having previously caused damage to OP’s property during a visit. With an apparent dislike for dogs, OP has drawn a boundary: their sister is welcome to visit, but the dog is not.

This situation escalated when OP's sister insisted that if her dog couldn't come, neither would she. Adding to the tension is their mother's opinion, who believes OP is being too harsh and should accept the dog’s presence.

The comments reflect a diverse range of opinions on the matter, with many supporting the OP's right to enforce their house rules. As the conversation unfolds, it invites further discussion on the responsibilities of pet ownership, the importance of respecting personal space, and how family dynamics can complicate seemingly straightforward issues.

What are your thoughts? Should one’s home be a sanctuary free from the chaos of untrained pets?

Original Post

AITA for not letting my sister bring her dog over anymore? My sister has a big, hyper dog that knocks things over and jumps on people.

The last time she brought him to my house, he ruined my rug by digging its paws into it like it was stupid game. Not to mention all the drooling....

I hate dogs in general and my sister knows that. I told her she can come over anytime but the dog can’t.

She got really upset and said if her dog isn’t welcome, neither is she. Now my mom says I’m being too harsh and that I should just deal with it but I think it's crazy to not honor your hosts wishes even when it comes to family.

Aita?
