So I'm (27F) in a serious relationship with my partner (30M), let's call him Alex. Alex has had a pet ferret named Bandit for the past 5 years before I even met him.

I've always known that Bandit is a huge part of Alex's life, and they have a strong bond. Bandit is practically like a child to Alex.

Recently, we've been talking about moving in together and planning for our future. However, the only issue is Bandit.

I'm severely allergic to ferrets, to the point where being around Bandit for extended periods of time gives me breathing difficulties and rashes. This has caused tension between Alex and me as he's very attached to Bandit and doesn't want to consider rehoming him.

We've had numerous discussions about potential solutions, but nothing seemed to work out. About a week ago, when Alex was away on a business trip, I made the decision to rehome Bandit without telling him.

I found a loving family who has experience with ferrets and can provide Bandit with a great home. The rehoming process went smoothly, and Bandit is settled in well with his new family.

When Alex returned and found out that Bandit was gone, he was devastated and furious with me. He couldn't believe that I would do something like this behind his back.
