The skyline of Chicago, known as the Windy City, is perhaps the most famous. Many believe the ten-story Home Insurance Building in Chicago, which was completed in 1884-1885, to be the world's first skyscraper.
It's only 42.1 meters (138 feet) tall by today's standards, but it was a world record at the time. The 110-story Willis Tower, also known as the Sears Tower, is Chicago's most renowned skyscraper.
It stands at 442 meters (1,450 feet) and adds to the stunning skyline with Lake Michigan behind it.
