Bride’s Family Lashes Out On Her After She Refused To Sacrifice Her Wedding Date For Her Brother’s Emergency Wedding
Wedding talks never fail to create a bit of drama...
The stress and challenges of preparing for a marriage ceremony can be mentally and physically draining. Venues have to be secured, marriage planners will be working hard to meet deadlines, and those special friends and family members invited will be preparing for D-Day.
However, what is truly heartbreaking is having to postpone your marriage after months of preparation and spending. No one would want to find themselves in this situation, especially if the reasons for the postponement aren’t tangible.
This is exactly what happened to a Redditor, u/Date2021, after she had been engaged for two years and had set a wedding date, only for her brother to schedule his shotgun wedding on the same day as hers. The entire situation sparked a family feud, but instead of the OP’s parents taking her side, they supported her brother.
It turned out that the OP's brother's girlfriend is pregnant, and their parents want them to marry as soon as possible. Furthermore, the Redditor and her brother had not been on friendly terms since childhood.
That's why he didn't hesitate to schedule his wedding on the same day his sister chose. The Redditor attempted to explain to her mother how difficult it would be to postpone the wedding after all of the preparations and expenses had been made.
However, OP’s parents were unwavering in their stance, insisting that she should be the one to postpone her wedding.

Lee HaywoodHer parents went on to say that if she refuses to change the date, she should not expect them to attend her wedding. This prompted the OP to share her story, in which she asked the AITA subreddit community if she was wrong for not postponing her wedding after her brother chose the same date for his own wedding.

When planning a major event, it’s always difficult to find a perfect date that suits all of the important personalities. It is even more challenging when two siblings are trying to fix their wedding dates within the same time frame.
As we saw above, it can result in family issues, especially if the parents don’t play their neutral roles well. What are your thoughts on this pulsating story?
