29 Celebs That You May or May Not Know Are Actually Canadians

It's hard to distinguish, anyway!

When you think of Canadian celebrities, you might initially think of Celine Dion or Justin Bieber. Of course, they aren't exempt from the jokes we make about America's neighbor to the north. However, Hollywood is full of them—Americans and Canadians alike. Although there's a fine line between them, many people still have a hard time distinguishing one from the other (and yes, that includes us).

Hollywood aspirants on both sides of the spectrum share a common goal: to make it big. Like Americans, when a Canadian dreamer wants to showcase their talents in Hollywood, they often head to Los Angeles or New York City in search of opportunities that will lead to a big break, leaving their hometown behind in a journey toward fame and success.

There are already many Canadian celebrities who seem...well, Canadian, and there are others that may surprise you, as they belong to the long list of people who love hockey and maple syrup (yes, these are stereotypes, but you get the point)! It's not really that odd, though, since Canadians and Americans have a lot in common, making it fairly easy for them to seamlessly blend in with the latter without fail.

You may already know that Drake is Canadian since he starred in the Canadian series Degrassi. You might have concluded that Shawn Mendes is Canadian just by hearing him talk and observing how he acts in real life.

That being said, it still comes as a shock when some celebrities we thought were American for so long turn out to be Canadian. Because, let's face it, even if the two are similar, there's just a unique vibe that we get from Canadians that no other citizens from different places can replicate.

Now, without further ado, here are some other celebrities you may not have known actually hail from the "Great White North," and proudly so!
