14 Stars Who Didn't Hold Back When Responding To Body Shamers

They deserve those clap backs.

A few years ago, everyone was so fixated on weight and body figure that it became a huge deal in every aspect of our lives. In fact, due to the pressure to conform to society's standards of a good body figure and weight, people starved themselves, overworked themselves at the gym, and generally practiced unhealthy lifestyles just for the sake of "looking good."

But it's already 2022. As a society, we have discussed weight a million times and are making good progress in changing society's perception of it and becoming more inclusive.

We've also discussed and established some great parameters on how to talk about it in a healthy way that won't make anyone feel bad or hyper-focus on their figure or weight. Unfortunately, some people are still stuck in the past.

These individuals even use their anonymity on the Internet to spout their nonsense at celebrities who are already under immense pressure to look good every single day for the cameras. Too bad for them, but many celebrities aren't afraid to clap back and give them a piece of their minds.

Here are some of the best moments when celebrities clapped back at body shamers.

1. Rumer Willis

After some critics accused the actress of looking too skinny in an Instagram post, the star fired back, saying:

"I know I don't need to do this, but in an effort to spread some awareness and shed some light on body-shaming tactics, I felt the need to share. After the barrage of some really inappropriate comments left on my picture I posted yesterday, I was left really bummed because I was really enjoying the silly pics I took. It was a weird angle that even made me feel like I looked smaller than I do in real life. But regardless, even though you may think it's your job or even your right to leave unfiltered thoughts or judgments about my body for me and others to read... it's not.""Coming for me in my comments and telling me how I'm too skinny or that I need to eat is absolutely not helpful and extremely body-shaming. Body shaming of any kind is something I will not stand for."

A week later, she shared a photo of herself sunbathing in a bikini, captioning it with "For the haters… with love and gratitude kindly [kiss emoji] my [peach emoji], I'll keep smiling regardless [peace sign emoji]."

2. Natalie Portman

In 2021, the actress became the target of public pregnancy speculation because she wore a dark blue tank top on set in Australia. She, of course, didn't let it continue and called out the news outlet that posted the speculation in a rare Instagram story post, writing:

"Hey, so I'm totally not pregnant... but apparently, it's still OK in 2021 for anyone to speculate and comment on a woman's body shape whenever they want? Do better @nypost."2. Natalie PortmanSteve Granitz/WireImage

3. Christina Anstead

After enduring trolls who kept judging her appearance on social media, she finally spoke out.

"People are commenting that I look really skinny or that I need to eat," she said in an Instagram Story video on Friday, Feb. 7. "This is actually the weight I've always weighed... You guys have just watched me have babies and then go back to my original weight. So don't worry, everything's fine."3. Christina AnsteadInstagram

4. Meghan King Edmonds

After she split from Jim Edmonds, the former star asked fans to stop criticizing her figure.

"'Eat a burger.' That's what they say. I'll be real with you: I'm too thin," she shared on Instagram in December 2019. "But please, I deserve some grace. I am doing the best I can with all of the dignity I can muster as I put my kiddos before anything else."4. Meghan King EdmondsVivien Killilea/Getty Images for iHeartMedia

5. Celine Dion

She has been called too skinny many times before, and when she addressed the negative comments, she said:

"Is there anything wrong with my body? I've always been very thin. I do ballet, I do a lot of stretching, and I work out because it helps my mind, body, and soul.""If you don't want to be criticized, you are in the wrong place. I take what's good for me. I leave behind what is not good for me," she explained on Entertainment Tonight. "I let my management take care of that, and if it hurts anyone, they will take care of that. I need to focus on what's right for me, how I feel, and, last but not least, you can't please everybody."5. Celine DionPhilippe Blet/REX/Shutterstock

6. Lizzo

In June 2020, the singer sent out a message for her body shamers.

"Hey, so I've been working out consistently for the last five years, and it may come as a surprise to some of y'all that I'm not working out to achieve your ideal body type," she said in a TikTok video. "I'm working out to have my ideal body type, and you know what type that is? None of your f--king business, because I am beautiful, I am strong, I do my job, and I stay on my job."6. 7. Demi Lovato

The "Anyone" singer has always been open about discussing her body figure.

"If somebody calls me fat, even in a vulnerable moment, I laugh to myself and think, I'm doing everything I can, so there's nothing I can do about it," she told Glamour in 2016. "I don't have a six-pack. Maybe I don't even want a six-pack. It doesn't sound very appealing."7. Demi LovatoRich Polk/E! Entertainment/NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Images

8. Wendy Williams

In 2018, Bow Wow shared a picture of the TV star wearing a black bikini on social media. He then commented, "They say it's a hot girl summer."

The host also didn't miss the chance to address body shamers. "Please refrain from your body shaming," she said. "You don't have to like it, but someone does."

9. Camila Cabello

The "Señorita" singer took to her Instagram stories to send a message to her haters.

"I haven't gone on social media AT ALL with the conscious intention of avoiding things that hurt my feelings," she began her lengthy post.

"My eyes accidentally ran over a headline of people 'body shaming me.' Honestly, the first thing I felt was super insecure over just IMAGINING what these pictures must look like—oh no! My cellulite! Oh no! I didn't suck in my stomach! But then I was like... of course there are bad pictures, of course there are bad angles; my body's not made of f--king rock or all muscles, for that matter. But the saddest part of young girls growing up in an airbrushed world is that they're seeking a perfection that's not real. I'm writing this for girls like my little sister who are growing up on social media. They're constantly seeing photoshopped, edited pictures and thinking that's reality, and everyone's eyes get used to seeing airbrushed skin, and suddenly they think THAT'S the norm. It isn't. It's fake. AND FAKE IS BECOMING THE NEW REAL. We have a completely unrealistic view of a woman's body. Girls, cellulite is normal; fat is normal. It's beautiful and natural. I won't buy into the bulls--t today!!!! Not today, Satan, and I hope you don't either."9. Camila CabelloChelsea Lauren/REX/Shutterstock

10. Bebe Rexha

In 2019, the singer posted a video of herself performing in a black leotard. In response to the video, one social media user said, "Okay, don't mean to disrespect, but ain't she too thiccccck!?? I mean, I've never seen her like that BEFORE!! from the song with those other two country dudes!!" Without missing a beat, the pop star clapped back, saying, "I gained weight; get over it."

She also called out the fashion industry after claiming that several designers refused to dress her for the Grammys because of her size.

"Empower women to love their bodies instead of making girls and women feel less than by their size," she said. "We are beautiful at any size! Small or large! And my size 8 ass is still going to the Grammys. #LOVEYOURBODY."10. Bebe RexhaRandy Shropshire/Getty Images for Warner Music

11. Grant Gustin

In 2018, the actor was photographed in his Flash superhero outfit, and while it should have been a momentous occasion, fans soon started making hurtful comments about the actor's body. Grant addressed the comments on Instagram.

"So here's the thing about this bulls--t photo leak," Gustin wrote. "It's a cool suit. There's a terrible photo that I was unaware was being taken, much less being posted."

"Some things need work, and they will be worked on. We'll get there. As far as the body shaming, that's what pisses me off. Not even just for my sake. I've had 20+ years of kids and adults telling me or my parents that I was too thin. But there's a double standard where it's OK to talk s--t about a dude's body. I do my best to stay in shape and add as much size as I can throughout these seasons. I'm naturally thin, and my appetite is greatly affected by stress. Stress is something that ebbs and flows for me throughout a season. Thus, gaining weight is a challenge for me... I went to an audition for a role I never dreamed I'd actually book. But here I am, five seasons later. I'm happy with my body and who I am, and other kids who are built like me and thinner than me should be able to feel the same way. Not only that, but they should be able to feel like THEY could be a superhero on TV or in film or whatever it may be someday. I love the suit that has been designed for me, and I think when everyone sees it in its entirety, you will love it too. Things have been adjusted since that leaked shot was taken, and more things will continue to be adjusted until it feels right."11. Grant GustinShane Harvey/The CW

12. Ayesha Curry

The star previously posted a photo of herself with her family celebrating the Golden State Warriors' win against the Portland Trail Blazers in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals. In the photo, Ayesha was holding her son, Canon.

A follower then had the gall to ask, "Are you pregnant again?"

"Absolutely not, LOL," she replied at the time. "My 30 lb son is just breaking my back in every photo."

Another commenter then followed that up with, "If that kid is 30 lbs, he's got some serious health issues going on."

Ayesha didn't let it go on any further, shutting down the shamer by saying, "Excuse you? No. Just no."

13. Jana Kramer

A week after she welcomed her baby, the host took to Instagram to send a message to all those commenting on her body.

"A few things, because honestly I'm so frustrated and I need to vent this," she wrote in December 2018.

"I wanted to post this photo (showing my stomach) because I wanted to show my journey back to health, and my goodness, I'm so glad I didn't, which is why this photo is now cropped. It's amazing the comments and how rude some people can be from my last photo I took yesterday. A few things: no, I didn't get a tummy tuck; no, I don't have a personal chef; no, I don't have fortunes, so I didn't train every day. Yes, I had a C-section; yes, I am still in pain and on meds, but I do have a high pain tolerance. I have had three stomach surgeries before this (appendix, gallbladder, and C-section). In that photo, I had a belly bandit wrapped tightly and high-waisted pants, and wow, here I am defending myself. Why?!? If I had posted the photo of my actual stomach in this photo, I would have probably been shamed too, even when I was wanting to be vulnerable with my journey. Why do we women have to compare ourselves to each other and then shame? I say this to myself as much as I say this to y'all... why can't it be that we are all different? Our bodies are all beautiful and crafted differently; they heal differently, they react differently, they simply look different. Why do we need to shame someone for not looking a certain way? Or feel bad about ourselves for looking a certain way? Can we be kinder to ourselves and know that every woman has a different journey, but yet we are all beautiful? Can we lift women up without tearing ourselves down in the process through comparison? Let's give that a try... I love y'all. Back to my baby."13. Jana KramerPresley Ann/Getty Images for TellTale

14. Candace Cameron-Bure

Back in 2018, the star shared a picture of herself enjoying dinner with her son. A troll then went on to comment, "All that [exercising], and you still look like you weigh more than your husband. Did you change your diet?"

The actress was quick to shut it down with, "If a 25-inch waist looks big to you… then you're looking through an altered lens. Be well."

Seriously, it's time people stopped looking at the weight and figure of others and actually focused on the things that matter to these individuals. It's 2022; we've really got to move on from the weight issue.

It's nice, though, that these stars aren't holding back against these body shamers so that these individuals know that what they're doing is completely out of line and that maybe they should learn some freaking manners.
