Celebrities Who Inspire Us By How Dedicated They Are To Having An Eco-Friendly Home And Lifestyle
Bryan Cranston, the "Breaking Bad" star, truly has one of the best eco-friendly homes out there.
While they may seem to be solely about fame, success, and other types of vanity that people make them out to be, celebrities are actually quite intent on making a significant difference in the world—both on and off-screen. Many people mock them for being fake "woke," but what they don't realize is that these individuals are effectively using their money, power, and platform to generate change in order to save the little planet we all inhabit.
Climate change has been a looming issue in our world, and while many people still try to deny it, we are in dire need of uniting to help save our planet, no matter what it takes. From Greta Thunberg to Leonardo DiCaprio, numerous celebrities worldwide are committed to using their platforms to raise awareness and inspire others regarding their advocacy for maintaining a sustainable lifestyle.
Many people may disagree, but celebrity activism is a powerful way to heighten awareness about important issues. These individuals are more than just their acting and entertainment careers, posing on the red carpet, or hosting lavish parties. Honestly, we are grateful that they publicly advocate for the betterment of the world, even if some people take their actions with a grain of salt.
Many of them are fierce advocates for feminism, human rights, gender equality, and good governance, while others are dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability and preservation. The threat to our environment is growing, and many celebrities are doing what they can to lessen their harmful impact—such as ensuring that their homes leave little to no traces of harmful chemicals in the environment.
Take a look at some of the celebrities who have invested their wealth in ensuring that they live an eco-friendly lifestyle in equally eco-friendly homes:
1. Daryl Hannah
Daryl Hannah is more than just a Hollywood celebrity from the 1980s—she's also an environmentalist who has even been arrested for her activism. She became a vegan at age 11.
Her home features active and passive solar technologies, fitting for an environmental queen like her. She also has a backup biodiesel generator, an organic garden, and a gray water recycling system.
Instagram2. Ed Begley Jr.
Ed Begley Jr. embodies environmentalism. He ensures that he lives a low-impact lifestyle, and he even has a TV program showcasing his life that has a small carbon footprint.
He has also authored several books about ecology, released a line of natural cleaning products, and is consistently involved in environmental-related shows and projects. He once owned a solar-powered bungalow in Studio City that was styled like a 1930s home, but he sold it years ago.
"There was nothing green about it, except it was small enough not to be an energy burden," he told the New York Times.Fortunately, he and his wife, Rachelle Carson, built a much more eco-friendly home in 2016: a 3,896-square-foot residence made with environmentally friendly materials such as tiles from recycled bottles, a chlorine-free pool (ozone system-purified), hardwood floors from old barns, and fruit trees in their yard. They also have a garage equipped with built-in electric car chargers powered by solar panels.
Their home has achieved LEED Platinum certification.

3. Gisele Bundchen And Tom Brady
As luxurious as this couple may seem, they actually reside in a 22,000-square-foot home that features many eco-friendly elements, such as solar panel roofs, energy-efficient appliances and lighting, and rainwater recycling systems. Bundchen is a global environmentalist who advocates for sustainability and environmental conservation—and her and Tom Brady's home is proof that even when you are wealthy enough to have the most technologically advanced house in the world, you can still choose one that has a lesser impact on the environment.

4. Leonardo DiCaprio
With his role as a lead star in "Don't Look Up," it's no secret that Leonardo DiCaprio is an advocate for the environment and sustainable development. Leo joined the board of Delos Living in 2014, which is the first eco-friendly real estate company that features jet lag-reducing lights, vitamin C showers, hot-yoga rooms, oak floors for posture support, and many other innovations to help the environment.
He owns several residences, including a bachelor pad in West Village, Greenwich Village.
5. Julia Louis-Dreyfus And Brad Hall
Julia Louis-Dreyfus renovated a 1930s-era house into a green home in Montecito, California. Together with her husband, Brad Hall, they ensured that their house has little to no pollutants.
They have energy-efficient appliances, a retractable sunroof, solar water heating, sustainable hardwoods, and daylight lighting. They collaborated with Kathryn Ireland, a star from "Million Dollar Decorators," and David Hertz, a sustainable architect from Santa Monica who has worked on the Wing House, to design their home.

"We buried a 5,000-gallon water tank, we have over 60 solar panels, and we don't have any grass—all succulents," said Ling to MNN in 2011.Her home features LED lighting, passive cooling, a high level of insulation, zero-VOC paints and finishes, an EV-charging station, and much more. Ling also donated her unused building materials to Habitat for Humanity.

8. Johnny Depp
Some celebrities are perfectly happy with their eco-friendly estates, but Johnny Depp went above and beyond by purchasing a whole island called Bahamian Island, which he then renamed Little Hall's Pond Cay. It boasts stunning scenery, with crystal-clear waters surrounding six beaches, and all the outbuildings are solar-powered.
9. Bryan Cranston
With the help of John Turturro, the "Breaking Bad" star renovated a 2,396-square-foot beach villa into an eco-friendly home in Ventura County. It has gained Platinum LEED certification, thanks to its photovoltaic solar panels, water heating system, radiant heated floors, rainwater tanks, high-performance doors, and many other recycled materials used in its construction.
His home was also recognized by the Passive House Alliance.
"My wife, Robin, and I want to combine both form and function, and show the world that sustainable living doesn't mean that there's no indoor plumbing or that it will impinge on a modern lifestyle. We have qualified for the highest level of 'green' building in the country, and we will strive to achieve the highest level of style and comfort too.""We know we will have succeeded if our guests ask incredulously, 'This is a green home?'"

Some people may find it shallow for these celebrities to engage with these issues when they already possess so much wealth—but that's precisely the point; they are using their wealth and success to ensure they are doing their part in making this world a better place to live. Because if the most influential people won't step up and try to inspire others to take action, then who will?
