The Only Thing This Teenager Wanted For Christmas Was For Her Dad's Instagram To Go Viral And It Did
Guess who got their Christmas wish early? She did.
As the calendar year approaches its end, many begin to look forward to the holiday season, most especially Christmas. If there is one thing those who celebrate Christmas have done for decades it is to make a special wish just for the magical season. Many Christmas wishes are far-fetched, special, and unique! Some are impossible, some are improbable, and many are feasible under the right circumstances.
For one teenager the simple wish of seeing her dad's hotel carpet Instagram account go viral was all she wanted. Naturally, she turned to the Internet and pleaded with Twitter to help make her Christmas wish a reality. While Christmas is close, it's not here yet and she has already achieved her goal.
Which has left those of us who aren't in on it wondering what the heck is so special about this Instagram account?

Jill Young is a 19 year-old college student and her father is Bill Young. However, he is now rather infamously known as his Instagram alias
. Bill travels for a living and posts photos of the various carpets he comes across. The concept sounds abysmal but shockingly the photos seem to paint an incredible story. Intricate, unique, varied designs splash across his account and captivate easily.
Jill spoke with Buzzfeed recently, recounting her feelings towards the unique account:
[I] always loved [his Instagram] because it’s just very pure.
...But she was:
always surprised he never put in the effort to get a whole bunch of followers.

Jill embellished on the concept of "gaining followers" with:
He didn’t really care about that. He just really liked carpet, and that made me really happy.
After Jill pleaded on Twitter for her Christmas dream... her wish came true! After receiving thousands of re-tweets the story continued to spread in a fashion only the Internet can provide us. From friends and family to strangers all over the world, everyone began to pour in to support her father's unique Instagram account.

In just a matter of days the Instagram account went from 125 followers to over 15,000 followers! When Jill saw the 15k followers she went back to Twitter to express sincere gratitude and the followers continued to pile in. At the time this was written he amassed over 618,000 followers. Yeah, you read that six-figure number correctly!
The question that lingers today is how did Jill, a normal teenager with an average number of followers well below 1,000 manage to get her dad's Instgram account to go insanely viral?
Well on top of the story being covered by major Internet trending news outlets like world-famous Buzzfeed, all it really took was people taking a glimpse at Bill's Instagram account for the ball to get rolling on it's own steam.
As the followers rolled in, Jill upped the game when she promised Twitter that if she could get her dad on The Ellen Degeneres show, she would get him to do a slam poem about hotel carpets. How is that not the single most irresistible bribe on the planet?

And both Jill and her Dad were thrilled and overjoyed by the positive responses his Instagram was pulling in. She tweeted the most adorable photo of his realization.

I think we can all agree that is the face of pure joy, can't we? Bill Young was a man like any other with a simple fascination with hotel carpets. After all, he sees many as he travels for work! But his Instagram, a seemingly simple concept, is truly a unique and worthy endeavor.
And we have to admit, we are rooting for the pair to make it to Ellen, too!
