Woman Accidentally Ruins Her Colleague's Wedding by Getting Them Arrested All for Sharing a Photo with the Groom's Ex-Wife
This wedding has everything from cheating partners and a stolen wedding dress to the police showing up!
OP (original poster) works with two people whom she refers to as Mary and Adam. Mary joined the company first, and Adam eventually worked there as well, in a different department.
The two had been married even before they joined the company. Mary left to pursue a different career, and everyone missed her dearly because she was a sweetheart.
The kicker is that OP and the others who used to work with Mary found out that she was divorcing Adam for cheating on her. OP felt bad for Mary and sent her a message expressing her sympathies for what she was going through.
The two have maintained communication since then. OP shared that Mary is such a nice person; despite the fact that Adam cheated on her, she refused to say anything negative about him.
The only complaint OP heard from Mary was about her missing wedding dress and family heirlooms. Mary chalked it up to being misplaced during her move and only hoped her precious items would eventually turn up.
Years passed, and Adam now works in the same department as OP. He invited her to his wedding with Chelsea, the girl he cheated on Mary with, and since their whole department was invited, OP said yes.
She made sure this was okay with Mary and told her they could meet up for drinks afterward since the venue is close enough to where Mary lives. On the day of the wedding, OP noticed Chelsea's wedding dress.
The dress was similar to what Mary wore at her wedding to Adam. Without thinking, OP took a photo along with the message, "Doesn't this dress look familiar?" and sent it to Mary.
OP saw that Mary had seen the message, but she didn't respond. About an hour later, the police showed up at the venue.
The police in OP's country take theft seriously, and it's considered a criminal offense. The police asked Chelsea to take off the wedding dress and the jewelry, but she refused and instead argued with the officers.
Adam joined in the argument, but the police had had enough, so they brought them in for questioning.
All of the guests decided to leave while OP tried her best to call Mary, who refused to pick up the phone. Everyone later found out that Chelsea had indeed stolen Mary's wedding gown and family heirlooms.
Mary saw them in the photo that OP sent, which led her to call the police. Mary had previously asked Adam if he had seen Mary's things, but he denied ever seeing them. So when Mary saw OP's photo, she knew Adam had lied to her.
The police made Chelsea leave the wedding dress and jewelry at the station. She went home in her underwear and Adam's jacket after making bail.
When Adam returned to the office, he went straight for OP and blamed her for the whole ordeal. He called her an a**hole for sending the photo to Mary and subsequently ruining his wedding.

How odd is that tidbit?

I wouldn't put it past Adam to lie to Chelsea about the origins of the dress and jewelry

Did they do another wedding ceremony after that fiasco?
LadyGreyIcedTea
Was Chelsea that naive?

We also wonder if Adam wasn't fired from his job for the serious accusations against him

To Adam, OP is the a**hole. To Mary, OP is a good friend who helped her retrieve her stolen possessions.

First of all, why would you steal your ex's wedding dress and family heirlooms, give them to your new bride, and not think twice when she wears them at your very public ceremony? Is it arrogance or stupidity?
It's a thin line, and we can't honestly tell. In summary, OP is not an a**hole for sending those pictures to Mary. Adam and Chelsea ruined their own wedding when they stole from Mary.
