Artist Shares His Comics and the Original Photos That Inspired Him to Draw Them

Animals are the best inspiration.

Divyansh Sikka, better known online as that_doodleguy, turns ordinary animal photos into tiny comics with a surprisingly warm twist. Based in Delhi, India, he works across filmmaking, photography, and graphic design, but his illustrated animal stories are what keep people coming back.

Each comic starts with a real photo, then gets a playful backstory that makes the scene feel even more charming. The result is a collection of wholesome, low-stress moments that feel tailor-made for anyone needing a break from the usual internet noise.

He has clearly found a creative lane that fits him, and these 30 comics show exactly why so many people love his work.

“Ever since I was a kid, I looked for comic strips in the newspaper, and that is how I discovered Garfield. I would go to my local library and borrow all the Garfield editions, reading them over and over again. More recently, I was introduced to Poorly Drawn Lines and Sarah Anderson Comics on Instagram, and I love them too.”

These were my inspirations for starting to draw my comics. Initially, I only drew funny comics with animals as the main characters because I found it easier to use them to express my thoughts. I began creating wholesome comics as an escape from all the worries during these COVID times. I love wildlife photography and wanted to combine that with my comics to promote the wonderful wildlife photographers who put in so much effort to capture the perfect moment.

Well, these comics are adorable, and they prove, once again, that nature is the best inspiration.

We hope the artist continues to create comics because they all convey a message of friendship, which is what we need in this crazy and hectic world, full of ugly images of violence and hostility.
