Artist Shares His Comics and the Original Photos That Inspired Him to Draw Them
Animals are the best inspiration.
Divyansh Sikka, also known as "that_doodleguy," is a versatile artist from Delhi, India. He is a filmmaker, photographer, and graphic designer, making it hard to determine what he excels at the most.
He creates these adorable animal comics based on super cute animal photos, giving each photo a little backstory that is heartwarming and wholesome.
There is no violence or foul language; they are a sight for sore eyes.
These comics provide a much-needed respite from the hectic days we all experience. What makes them even more wonderful is that he shares the original photos that inspired each comic.
These insights into his creative process reveal Sikka's long-standing fascination with wildlife, which began in his childhood.
Whenever he came across a unique picture of an animal, he would wonder how that photograph was taken. "One morning, it occurred to me: why not use my love for doodling to create a wholesome backstory for these pictures? And I haven't stopped since!"

“Ever since I was a kid, I looked for comic strips in the newspaper, and that is how I discovered Garfield. I would go to my local library and borrow all the Garfield editions, reading them over and over again. More recently, I was introduced to Poorly Drawn Lines and Sarah Anderson Comics on Instagram, and I love them too.”

These were my inspirations for starting to draw my comics. Initially, I only drew funny comics with animals as the main characters because I found it easier to use them to express my thoughts. I began creating wholesome comics as an escape from all the worries during these COVID times. I love wildlife photography and wanted to combine that with my comics to promote the wonderful wildlife photographers who put in so much effort to capture the perfect moment.
