Redditors React As Man Shares While He Returned The PC His Lazy Dad Bought Him

“Come with us or i’m taking the computer.”

A dad bought his kid a PC like it was a gift, not a trap, and Redditors are still side-eyeing the whole setup. OP was excited at first, until he realized the computer could be used as leverage the second he didn’t do what his dad wanted.

Here’s the messy part: OP lives with his grandma, his dad moved in after going bankrupt, and the PC is dad’s way of controlling the household from his recliner. Worse, OP has a serious wasp phobia from a childhood incident, and dad keeps making OP move things around and deal with “little” tasks that involve bringing stuff outside mid-day, even after watching OP panic multiple times.

So OP unplugged the PC, dragged it to the living room floor, and told his dad to return it, and the comment section had a field day.

The OP was happy about getting it but knowing it’d be used against him, I didn’t want it anymore

OP’s initial excitement turns sour the moment he clocks that his dad’s “gift” comes with strings attached.

OP has offered the following explanation for why they think they might be the AH:

I gave my dad the PC he got me back and told him to return it

When OP tells his dad to return the PC, the wasp phobia detail is what makes everyone’s eyebrows shoot up.

The OP gave an explanation saying:

I live at home with my grandma, my dad went bankrupt and moved in after me so it’s not his roof i’m living under.i have a phobia of wasp because when i was little my sister threw me into a bush full of them and since then i have panic attacks being near them (yes i should probably get therapy for it)

The edits get even more wild, because dad is apparently unemployed, stuck in a recliner, and delegating everything to his girlfriend.

This PC tug-of-war feels close to the 14F refusing her friend’s constant Tipex borrowing.

The OP revealed more in his edits saying...

My dad isn’t using it as a way to force me to get a job. he’s using it for little things. i didn’t want to bring something outside mid day when he knows about my phobia and has seen me go into multiple panic attacks because of it and because it’s his stuff he wants me to move just because he doesn’t want to leave his chair

By the time dad is forcing OP to move things just so he doesn’t leave his chair, the verdict feels pretty obvious.

OP also said that his dad is unemployed and sits in his recliner all day on his computer. He has his gf do everything for him, from bringing him food because he’s too lazy to get up, to chores, because he doesn’t do anything around the house besides occasionally help OP fold towels, which he does from his chair, then makes him put them away.

Of course, the OP was declared not the AH, and that's a wrap.

Nobody wants to be the family’s errand runner for a PC that was never really a gift.

Before you judge the dad PC return move, see if OP was right about the $0.25 tip.
