Mother Devastated When She Overhears Teenage Daughter Telling Friends Her Parents Are Abusive
"Your mom is literally Satan."
Being a teenager isn't easy. Growing up is tricky, and having a good group of friends is important.
However, making friends isn't always straightforward, especially during adolescence. We don't quite know who we are yet, and we desperately want to fit in with the majority.
For that reason, it's easy to fall into the wrong crowd. We may even engage in questionable behavior or lie to feel included and "fit in."
It's a normal part of growing up—within reason. But what if those actions are hurting others?
When a mother shared the story of her teenage daughter making accusations about her and her husband on the UK-based forum, "Mumsnet," the online community was appalled. The woman shared her story in the AIBU (Am I Being Unreasonable?) thread, asking for advice after overhearing her daughter making false accusations to her online friends.
The woman explained that she had previously heard her 15-year-old daughter badmouthing her and her husband on the Discord chat app, but nothing like this. One day, when the OP went for a walk and returned unexpectedly, she overheard her daughter chatting with her friends online, unaware that her mother was home.
The OP explained that her daughter usually wore headphones, meaning only her responses could be heard. But on this occasion, she wasn't wearing them, allowing her mother to listen to both sides of the conversation.
What she heard devastated her, and she couldn't believe the things her daughter had accused her and her husband of. Keep scrolling to read the story in full and find out what people had to say about it.

What's your take on this mother's situation? Do you think this is "just normal teen behavior," or is this something more severe that the OP needs to address immediately?
