50+ Tweets And Hilarious Memes About The Johnny Depp-Amber Heard Defamation Trial That Just About Sums Up The Whole Thing
Jokes aside, domestic abuse should always be taken seriously, no matter who is on the receiving end.
If there is one celebrity controversy that has been the highlight of mid-2022, the whole Johnny Depp-Amber Heard fiasco definitely takes the cake. The ex-couple, who were married for less than two years, decided to call it quits and got a divorce in 2016 due to irreconcilable differences, as Heard would say.
That wasn't the only reason, though, as Heard also filed a restraining order against Depp, surrounding the domestic violence allegations that were made. In the years following their divorce, the two have continued to accuse each other of physical violence that occurred during the course of their relationship; while both parties denied the claims.
The couple was once one of the best pairs in Hollywood, even sharing intimate kisses on the red carpet. They met on the set of the 2011 drama The Rum Diary, which began filming in 2009; Depp was still with Vanessa Paradis at that time, having been married for 14 years and having two children together, Lily-Rose Depp and Jack Depp.
A year after Depp's split from Paradis, he and Heard were seen holding hands while attending a Rolling Stones concert in 2013. In early 2014, Heard was spotted with an engagement ring, sparking rumors about the status of their relationship—and sure enough, the two had a civil ceremony early in 2015 at their mansion in Los Angeles, followed by a larger ceremony on Depp's private island in the Bahamas.
Sounds like a fairy tale, right? Well, not exactly, evidently.
In 2022, the two were once again thrust into the public eye, still simmering in the aftermath of their toxic marriage. When Heard wrote an op-ed about her domestic violence experience for The Washington Post, the piece was widely considered to be about Depp, even though it did not mention his name; as a result, Depp sued Heard for defamation, and the trial was so publicized that people almost treated it like a TV show.
And because people just love drama, and the case involves two actors, internet users were quick to jump in and post their reactions online, in a way that the world of the internet is most definitely good at: with tweets, posts, and memes. Now, without further ado, here are some of the most significant tweets and memes about the whole trial that just about sum up everything!

While we can't rule out that Depp isn't fully innocent and there may be instances where he also inflicted some harm upon Heard, the way Heard evidently faked her bruises and injuries, as well as continuously spouted debunked lies, seems like a strange way to act as a victim of domestic violence. All jokes aside, though, domestic violence should not be taken lightly; but one thing is for sure: the truth must always prevail.
