Parents Are Posting Their Daughters' Reactions To The New "Little Mermaid" Trailer, And We're Not Crying, You Are
"When your favorite Disney Princess looks like you."
Disney's new live-action The Little Mermaid trailer is doing more than building hype, it is giving families a moment they will not forget. For many parents, watching their daughters see Halle Bailey as Ariel has turned into a wave of pure emotion online.
As the first Black Ariel, Halle has sparked joyful reactions from little girls who are seeing themselves reflected in a Disney princess for the first time. Alongside the sweet videos, the trailer has also stirred up backlash and plenty of debate about the new film.
The reactions are still rolling in, and some of them are absolutely priceless.
The first look at the new film shows Halle singing "Part of Your World" with her intoxicating voice.

Parents from around the world have been capturing the moment their daughters first see the new Ariel.
That part of the internet has been especially wholesome.
Halle even tweeted a video of a little girl smiling and asking, "Is that Ariel?" "I just sobbed watching this," Halle wrote.
One mother captioned her TikTok video, "When your favorite Disney Princess looks like you." The video shows her 3-year-old daughter sitting up in awe when she first sees Halle emerge from the water as Ariel.
"That's why representation matters," one mom posted.
"Mama, she's Black!"
"Never thought a movie trailer could make me cry."
Not everyone has been cheering, though, and the backlash has been loud.
This “is that Ariel?” moment has the same messy vibe as a Reddit mom debating whether to exclude her sister from her baby shower.
Of course, as much as everyone has been raving about the new trailer, there have been some negative comments. It seems that people were up in arms over the fact that Ariel doesn't appear to be underwater in the preview.
Some individuals saw the comments as a direct attack on Halle and were quick to jump in and defend her.
While others found humor in the situation and took the opportunity to create some funny memes about it.
"Is this realistic enough?"
Either way, the trailer has already made a huge splash.
