Artist Recreates Disney Princesses to Show What They'd Look Like with More Realistic Proportions

Disney princesses have always been drawn with a certain kind of fantasy in mind, but one artist decided to give them a more realistic look. Holly Fae, a Disney fan and digital artist, started by reimagining Elsa with proportions that felt closer to real life.
Using Procreate on her iPad, she shared the finished piece on TikTok, and the response took off fast. That first viral post turned into a full series, with followers asking her to redraw favorites like Belle, Rapunzel, Moana, and Jasmine.
Now the collection has grown into a full lineup of familiar characters with a very different look, and the reactions are part of the fun.

“From the time I was a little girl, I was deeply fascinated by all things magical—fairies, mermaids, dragons, and more!” Holly says on her Etsy page.
“I have also loved to draw, paint, and craft for as long as I can remember, and now I would like to create things that can bring joy, wonder, and a little bit of magic to everyone else.”

“I love Disney movies; they were a huge influence while I was growing up,” Holly said.
“I became very curious to see what she might look like with proportions similar to the classic 2D princesses, so I started transforming and recording the process,” she said of her original Elsa piece.
“Before I knew it, the video had gone viral, and people were requesting other princesses, so it just turned into a fun project from there!”

“I’m not making a commentary on Disney proportions; I’m just doing it out of curiosity and a desire to bring some fun to people’s day!” Holly said.
“The initial Elsa video was really on a whim, but since then, I’ve put a lot of care into each transformation, especially in the cases of Moana and Jasmine. I spent a lot of time looking at photos of women of their ethnicities because I wanted to get the features right.”

“I plan to finish all the Disney princesses, maybe a few other characters, and explore other franchises like How to Train Your Dragon or even anime characters,” Holly says.
“As of right now, Tiana is next, followed by Mulan and Snow White.”
