6 Disney World Characters That Quietly Lost Their Regular Park Appearances
Six familiar Disney World characters no longer have regular park appearances, affecting meet and greets across Magic Kingdom and beyond.
A quieter shift across Walt Disney World has left several once-familiar characters off the regular lineup. For guests planning character-heavy park days, that means six names that used to be part of the experience are currently missing from scheduled appearances.
The biggest change is not tied to one land or one park. It stretches from Disney's Hollywood Studios to Disney's Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom, and it affects guests hoping to meet characters they may remember from past trips.
At Hollywood Studios, Doc McStuffins and Vampirina no longer keep the regular presence they once had in Disney Junior entertainment. Both had been part of the park's offerings for younger visitors, with Doc McStuffins joining the character lineup and Vampirina standing out as a more offbeat Disney Junior face. Their disappearance followed updates to the area's entertainment, including the move to Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!, a stage show built around Mickey Mouse and other current Disney Junior characters.
Animal Kingdom has also lost two characters tied to a much smaller Disney property. Kenai and Koda from Brother Bear once appeared there, a natural fit for a park centered on animals and the natural world. They are no longer regular parts of the lineup, leaving Brother Bear with little presence in Walt Disney World's parks.
Magic Kingdom accounts for the other two changes, though for very different reasons. Br'er Rabbit's park role ended when Splash Mountain permanently closed in January 2023 for its reimagining into Tiana's Bayou Adventure. That new attraction opened in 2024 with characters and story elements from The Princess and the Frog, closing the chapter on Br'er Rabbit's long association with the park.
Merlin's regular live role faded out when Disney ended the Sword in the Stone ceremony in Fantasyland. That small show had let Merlin choose guests to try pulling the sword from the stone. He no longer has a regular scheduled presence there. Merlin was also said to have appeared in September 2026 during a special character gathering for the opening of The Magic of Disney Animation at Hollywood Studios, but that did not signal a full-time return.
For now, there is no regular opportunity to meet Doc McStuffins, Vampirina, Kenai, Koda, Br'er Rabbit, or Merlin at Disney World.
