Toy Story Land's Newest Toy Is a Screen, and It Quietly Brings Toy Story 5 Into Disney World
Disney World has added Lilypad to Toy Story Land with games, videos and new music now live at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
Toy Story Land has a new way to fill the gaps between rides, and it is not a new attraction vehicle or character meet and greet. Disney World has added Lilypad, a frog-shaped smart tablet tied to Toy Story 5, to the area at Disney's Hollywood Studios with interactive games, videos, graphics and a larger music mix that guests can access now.
What changed in Toy Story Land
The update is already live in Andy's backyard at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Instead of putting Lilypad into a queue-based experience, Disney has brought the character into the land through a large screen that guests can encounter while exploring.
Lilypad comes from Toy Story 5, where technology is part of the toys' latest story, making this one of the clearest links yet between the upcoming film and the existing park land. On the screen, guests can watch Lilypad use a drawing app and try to guess which Toy Story character is being sketched. Another activity asks visitors to unscramble puzzles that reveal familiar faces, including Partysaurus Rex.
The screen also plays "home videos" featuring the toys. One of those clips centers on the wedding of Forky and Karen Beverly.
Who this affects, and why Disney added it now
This change is aimed at guests spending time in Toy Story Land without immediately boarding an attraction. That includes families who split up, a person waiting with a child who does not meet a height requirement, or anyone pausing for food or a break before joining another line.
Disney has also expanded the area's soundtrack around Lilypad's screen. The display changes its record-style graphics based on the song playing. A red Buzz album appears with "Hay Un Amigo En Mi," a blue Forky record pairs with "I Can't Let You Throw Yourself Away," and the Pixar ball is shown on a black record for "You've Got a Friend in Me." Woody and Bullseye share another red record for a Woody's Roundup remix.
Some tracks were created specifically for the experience, including "Spin It Back, Lilypad" and "Pizza Planet Promo," which uses pizza-themed art with a Little Green Alien at the center. The playlist also reaches deeper into the franchise with "Partysaurus Rex Anthem," plus an instrumental version of "I Knew It, I Knew You," identified as a Taylor Swift song made for Toy Story 5. Other tracks include "Buzz Beats!" with a Star Command record and "We Belong Together" with art featuring multiple characters.
The addition does not replace Toy Story Mania!, Slinky Dog Dash, Alien Swirling Saucers or Roundup Rodeo BBQ. It simply gives guests one more thing to do in Toy Story Land, and it is available now.
