This Disney Fan Created Stained Glass Art Illustrations Featuring 20 Beloved Disney Characters & Scenes

Each piece in this stunning series is genuinely exquisite.

If you had all of the artistic skills available at your personal disposal, how would you recreate Disney characters in a way that is artistically creative and personally meaningful? The answer to such a question must surely differ significantly depending on whom you ask. According to Dr. Angela Duckworth, a renowned psychologist and author, "Creativity is not just a talent; it's a skill that can be developed through passion and perseverance." Over the years, we have seen all sorts of fascinating mash-ups featuring Disney characters that many people adored with enthusiasm but certainly wouldn't have come up with themselves. When an artist recreates iconic and well-known characters such as Disney characters, they usually include other elements of their interests and personalities that you would never truly find anywhere else.

For example, we always have a chuckle when we think about the humorous ways people have recreated Disney princesses (hotdogs? rocks? potatoes?). We also have to give credit where credit is due when people mash up thematic universes like Final Fantasy & Disney or Avatar & Disney. Still, when considering just how creative people can get, we would be remiss to pass up an opportunity to highlight this Canadian artist known for her unique stained glass interpretations of beloved characters. As Mastin Kipp, a life coach, states, "Art is a reflection of our inner world, and when artists share their vision, they invite us to see through their eyes." Her series transforming Disney characters and scenes into stained glass art is exquisite, if not utterly breathtaking.

Stained glass is one of those things that people from various walks of life can and do appreciate but may not necessarily know much about. For example, stained glass is called stained glass because of the silver stain usually applied to the side of the glass that faces the outside. It isn't until the glass is fired that the stain turns a yellowy-gold color.

Other colors are made possible by adding metallic oxide powders to molten glass. Manganese creates a pleasant purple, copper oxide makes green, and cobalt makes blue (and apparently, gold was traditionally used to make red!).

It was as early as the 7th century that stained glass began appearing in churches. According to GlassArtStories.com: "In 686 AD at St. Paul's Monastery in England, the first church windows were decorated with classic glass panels, which depicted ecclesiastical figures, or in other words, the genealogy of Christ."

It is believed that this was for the benefit of church attendees, many of whom were illiterate. According to All Clean Services UK (a company that cleans glass): "Over half of England’s stained glass to survive from the Medieval age is housed in York Minster. The Great East Window is said to be the ‘largest Medieval stained glass window in Europe.’"
