Woman Demands €3,000 From Boyfriend For “Student Debt” That Was Settled Years Ago
The debt was gone, but the demand wasn’t.
A trucking company owner in Finland found himself questioning his entire relationship after his girlfriend demanded €3,000 for student loans that had already been paid off years earlier.
He runs a small trucking business with two employees, including himself. Recently, he sold some old equipment he no longer needed and received €25,000 from the sale. It was money he planned to reinvest in the business.
Instead, it became the center of an argument.
His girlfriend was upset that she didn’t receive €3,000 from the sale. According to her, she needed it for her student loans. The problem is that she paid those loans off about two years ago.
When he reminded her of that, she accused him of lying. The conversation escalated quickly. She insisted he could stay home more if he wanted to, despite the fact that he works long hours trucking to maintain their house, cars, and income.
When he explained that his job makes their lifestyle possible, she shifted the focus back to the money.
He refused. He told her it was his money and her loans had already been cleared.
The argument ended with her storming off and calling him names. He later broke up with her after more tension followed.
Now he’s left wondering if he handled it poorly, or if the request itself crossed a line.

Money often exposes cracks that were already there. In this case, the disagreement wasn’t just about €3,000. It was about trust.
If one person believes a debt exists and the other knows it doesn’t, that creates a deeper issue than finances alone.
He feels guilty for how things ended, but he also stood firm when something didn’t add up.
So what do you think? Was he too harsh, or was questioning a “nonexistent” debt the only reasonable response?
