Family Drama: Sister-in-Law Banned for Stealing Secret Recipe
Would you ban a family member for stealing your secret recipe?
Family dinners are supposed to be the one place where everyone relaxes, eats too much, and argues about whose recipe is “best.” But in this Reddit thread, one lasagna recipe turned a normal gathering into a full-blown family feud.
The OP, a 30M guy, has a secret lasagna that’s been passed down from his great-grandma, and it’s basically the star of every get-together. His sister-in-law, Lisa, always praises the dish, yet somehow never makes it herself. Then, last week, the OP took a bite and realized her version tasted disturbingly similar to his.
Once Lisa admitted she’d copied the recipe, the OP drew a hard line, and now the whole family is picking sides.

So I'm (30M), and my sister-in-law, let's call her Lisa, has a habit of copying my family dinner recipes. For years, I've been perfecting a secret lasagna recipe passed down from my great-grandma.
It's the star dish at our family gatherings, and everyone loves it. Lisa always raves about it but never tried making it herself.
Last week, at a family dinner, I noticed that the lasagna tasted eerily similar to mine. When I casually asked Lisa about it, she sheepishly admitted to copying my recipe.
I felt betrayed and furious that she'd steal something so personal to me. I told her that she's banned from future family dinners until she respects my boundaries and stops stealing my recipes.
Lisa was hurt and told the family, who now think I'm overreacting. Am I the a*****e for banning her from our dinners?

This lasagna betrayal with Lisa is similar to the AITA where someone boycotted grandma’s birthday after a sister cooked the signature dish without permission.

The moment the OP tasted Lisa’s lasagna and clocked the same “secret” vibes, the whole dinner stopped feeling casual.
After Lisa sheepishly admitted she copied his great-grandma recipe, the OP decided the betrayal needed consequences.
The ban came with a condition, respect the boundaries and stop stealing the recipes, but Lisa still ran to tell the family.
Now everybody thinks the OP is overreacting, while he’s stuck wondering if this is just how the family handles stolen food.

The family dinner did not just end badly, it ended with Lisa banned and everyone arguing over a lasagna nobody can trust.
