Family Vacation Chaos: AITA for Banning Sisters Disruptive Cat?
"Family trip turns chaotic as sister's spoiled cat causes mayhem - AITA for refusing to let it travel with us? Reddit weighs in."
A 28-year-old man planned what was supposed to be a peaceful countryside family getaway, and then his sister showed up with her brand-new cat like it was the main character of the trip. What started as “the cabin allows pets” turned into a full-on chaos streak, with broken furniture, late-night noise, and at least one museum scene that got strangers staring.
Here’s the complicated part: the group was OP, his parents, his sister (24F), and her clingy, high-energy “fur baby,” who basically refused to behave like a normal pet. The cat scratched up the cabin, meowed loudly at night, jumped where it shouldn’t, and even knocked over a lamp. Then, during sightseeing, the sister insisted on bringing the cat in a carrier, which immediately backfired when the cat escaped in the car and trashed seats the whole way.
Now OP is stuck asking if he went too far by banning the cat from traveling with them again, and the comments are not subtle.

I (28M) recently planned a family trip with my parents, sister (24F), and her new pet cat. My sister adopted this cat a few months ago, and it's become her whole world.
She spoils it, carries it everywhere, and is obsessed with it. For background, our family trip was supposed to be a relaxing getaway to the countryside.
We rented a cabin where pets were allowed, and my sister assumed she could bring her cat along. However, the cat's extremely high energy levels and tendency to meow loudly at night started causing disruptions.
It scratched up furniture, jumped on countertops, and even managed to knock over a lamp. Things escalated when we went sightseeing and my sister insisted on taking the cat along in a carrier.
It started meowing loudly, causing a scene in a museum, and my sister wouldn't quiet it down. People were staring, and some even complained about the noise.
It was embarrassing, and my sister just brushed it off. It reached a breaking point when the cat escaped from the carrier during a long car ride.
It ran around, scratching seats, and made a mess. We had to stop multiple times to contain it, making the trip twice as long.
I lost my temper and told my sister the cat couldn't travel with us anymore. She got upset, accusing me of not caring about her feelings or her 'fur baby'.
So, AITA for refusing to let my sister's pet cat travel with us after it caused chaos on our family trip? I know she's attached to it, but it's been a nightmare on our vacation.

The second the cat started meowing through the night in the cabin, OP’s “relaxing getaway” plan went straight into the trash.
Things got way worse when the museum trip turned into a public disturbance, and OP’s sister just brushed it off like nobody cared.
The real turning point was the car ride, when the cat escaped the carrier and started scratching seats, forcing multiple stops and doubling the travel time.
After OP finally snapped and banned the cat, his sister hit back with the “you don’t care about my fur baby” accusation.

Nobody wants to spend a family vacation cleaning up after a runaway cat.
Before you judge, see why this AITA poster wanted to exclude cousins’ therapy cat.
