Meet Zachary Willmore, The First Ever Male Homecoming Queen

He is redefining the title and loving every minute of it.

Zachary Willmore did not just win homecoming, he turned a school tradition into a viral moment. The Rock Bridge High School cheerleader and TikTok creator ended up making history after students chose him for the crown, and the sash said queen.

He is also openly gay, has used his platform to push for a more flexible dress code, and says the win meant a lot to him. But the attention brought support, criticism, and plenty of debate online.

Now his story is getting even more attention, and the reaction has been just as loud as the win itself.

Zachary is an active member and cheerleader on his school's team.

He's also a proud member of the LGBTQ community and identifies as gay. His grandparents, however, didn't know about it until the homecoming ceremony this year.

Zachary wants to pursue a career as a fashion designer, which makes sense given that one of the reasons for his popularity is his unique sense of style.

He has also made it a point to use his popularity on TikTok to advocate for people's right to dress however they want. His popularity on the app soared to new heights after his video of winning the homecoming queen crown went viral.

Naturally, Zachary was overjoyed with his win. He mentioned that it made him feel like people really liked and cared about him.

However, not everyone was fully supportive. Although Zachary received tons of positivity from his supporters, there were also negative reactions online.

“I feel like winning homecoming queen has created a path for me to go down. Coincidentally, the people who were the most upset about it helped get my story out by watching it so much,” he said.

This is similar to the AITAH post where parents had to choose between a graduation and a brother's sports event.

That win clearly came with a lot of attention.

Together with a few other students, Zachary continues to advocate for a more up-to-date school dress code. He wants to inspire other students and people in general to dress however they want.

“I want to help people feel comfortable in their own skin with whatever clothing they wear, so I really hope that by wearing a dress, I helped someone else wear what they wanted too,” he said.

This is definitely one of those in-your-face changes against traditional norms that we love because of how amazing it is. It's really a great and fabulous statement.

We hope the school listens to Zachary's advocacy, and hopefully, that's the next step after his amazing win. It's time for organizations to start modernizing in the right way, after all.

What do you think of Zachary's win?

His story is still sparking debate, and that probably will not slow down anytime soon.
