Friends Extreme Pet Care Advice: AITA for Choosing Commercial Dog Food Over Raw Diet?
AITA for rejecting my friend's extreme pet care advice for my dog? Emily insists on homemade, organic meals, but I prefer commercial food; tension is rising.
A 28-year-old dog owner is getting pushback from a friend who thinks his puppy’s meals should look a lot more complicated than they do. Instead of sticking with the high-quality commercial dog food he has used for years, his friend Emily wants him to switch Max to organic, gluten-free, homemade meals and even a raw diet.
He says his previous pets stayed healthy on reputable store-bought food, but Emily is not letting it go. After spotting the dog food in his pantry, she started lecturing him and sending articles and videos, which only made the whole thing more tense.
Now he is wondering whether he is being stubborn, or whether Emily has crossed the line. Read on.

So I'm (28M) and recently got a new puppy named Max. He's a lively little guy, and I've been enjoying every moment of having him around.
However, my friend, let's call her Emily, has been bombarding me with what I can only describe as extreme pet care advice. Emily believes that dogs should only eat organic, gluten-free, homemade meals to stay healthy.
She's also insisting that I switch Max to a raw food diet to ensure he's getting the best nutrition. For background, I've always fed my pets high-quality commercial dog food, and they've been perfectly healthy.
I've done my research, and I believe that reputable brands provide balanced nutrition for dogs. While I appreciate Emily's concern, I find her advice to be excessive and unnecessary.
The other day, Emily visited my place and discovered the bags of dog food in my pantry. She was visibly upset and started lecturing me about how I'm compromising Max's health by not following her advice.
I calmly explained my perspective, but Emily wouldn't back down. She even went as far as sending me multiple articles and videos advocating for raw feeding.
I value Emily's friendship, but her insistence on this matter is starting to strain our relationship. I feel like she's overstepping boundaries by trying to dictate how I should care for my dog.
I want to do what's best for Max, but I believe that sticking to a high-quality commercial diet is sufficient. So AITA for refusing to follow my friend's extreme pet care advice for my dog?
I honestly don't know if I'm wrong here and need an outside perspective.
