Jack In The Box Employee Goes Viral After Showing Severely Understaffed Store

If you've ever worked in fast food, then you know how challenging it can be when you're understaffed in a busy store.

A Jack in the Box employee went viral after posting a TikTok that basically screams, “We’re drowning.” In the clip, she’s standing with coworkers, surrounded by customers, while something beeps in the background like the store is running on pure panic.

Then she pans the camera and the scene gets even worse. Suddenly it’s just her and two other coworkers trying to handle everything, which is why the caption hit so hard: “When they say you don’t deserve the raise, but then you’re like this by yourself.”

What makes it complicated is that she doesn’t come off as bitter toward her job, she comes off as mad at the mismatch between what she does and what she’s paid for.

The TikToker shows herself with her coworkers, lots of customers, and something beeping in the background.

In the now-deleted video, Alarcon wrote: “When they say you don’t deserve the raise, but then you’re like this by yourself.” She pans the store to reveal only herself and two other coworkers present with her.

It seems that most people understood her perspective and expressed sympathy. Many individuals who have worked in fast food or retail have experienced similar situations at least once.

Some people even mentioned that this was a regular occurrence at Jack In The Box.

As you can see, a lot of people commented to say that they've dealt with the same issues when they used to work there. Some even stated that this was the reason they left or quit their jobs.

Her video gained so much attention that she wanted to create a follow-up video.

She felt compelled to address some of the comments left on her video. She received numerous comments and wanted to clarify how she truly felt about her job.

“Just to clarify, I do like my job; I love my job. I’ve been working at Jack In The Box for about four years, and it’s been great.”

“Other than the pay, it’s great. I love customer service, but there are times when you just feel underappreciated because you do so much, and you don’t get anything in return.”

People in the comments immediately recognized the chaos, saying they’ve seen the same “just a few people on shift” situation at Jack in the Box before.

This also echoes the office lunch fund standoff, where dietary restrictions led to a full-blown refusal.

That’s when the beeping and the crowded store started feeling less like background noise and more like evidence that the staffing problem is constant, not random.

Next, she jumped in with a follow-up, clarifying she loves the job, but the underappreciation hits when she’s doing too much with too little support.

And once she said she’s been there about four years and it’s “been great” besides the pay, the whole story turned from rage bait into a “why is this still happening?” moment.

It turns out that she doesn't hate her job, but she does recognize that she's not necessarily compensated enough to handle being that understaffed. Honestly, though, we don't blame her at all because we wouldn't want to be in that situation either.

Nobody wants to love their job while being left to run the whole place.
