Illustrators Remove Iconic Facial Hair From Disney Characters And It Might Make You Uncomfortable
Unless you really appreciate a clean-shaven Disney dude...
Disney characters are usually easy to recognize, but take away the mustaches, beards, and goatees, and the whole vibe changes fast. These illustrations strip some of the most iconic facial hair from Disney dads, villains, and side characters, and the results are oddly unsettling.
From King Hubert to Jafar, each side-by-side comparison shows just how much those little details shape the way we see these characters. Once the facial hair is gone, even the most familiar faces can feel a little off.
By the end, you may never look at Disney's men the same way again.
1. King Hubert from Sleeping Beauty
He's much less powerful without his majestic mutton chops.
Disney2. Maurice from Beauty and the Beast
Somehow, Maurice looks a little villainous without all that hair.
Disney3. Cookie from Atlantis
This may be one of the most realistic in the series.
Disney
4. The Emperor from Mulan
Please, put it back.
Disney
5. Zeus from Hercules
He needs a bigger nose if he doesn't have the beard.
Disney
The clean-shaven versions get uncomfortable pretty quickly.
6. Gepetto from Pinocchio
Shaving took 15 years off Gepetto's face.
Disney
7. The King from Cinderella
D'awh....
Disney
8. Jafar from Aladdin
I guess Jafar's facial hair wasn't as iconic as previously believed.
Disney
9. King Triton from The Little Mermaid
This is not acceptable.
Disney
Some of these characters look like they lost their entire personality along with the facial hair.
It’s a lot like the neighbor refusing to groom a cat that ruined the garden and scratched them.
10. Merlin from The Sword in the Stone
He went from magician to nerd really quickly, didn't he?
Disney
11. Cassim from Aladdin and the King of Thieves
Still works.
Disney
12. The Grand Duke from Cinderella
This one might be the most uncomfortable of them all.
Disney
13. The Sultan from Aladdin
Clearly, the beard is necessary for his pleasant disposition.
Disney
14. Yen Sid from The Sorcerer's Apprentice
Oh, this is good and creepy.
Disney
It is a surprisingly effective reminder that Disney's facial hair design does a lot of heavy lifting.
15. Kashekim Nedakh from Atlantis
He doesn't seem half as wise without his awesome beard.
Disney
Let's hope Disney never makes a habit of animating characters without mustaches and beards.
