The World Finally Gets To See The Before And After of The Human Ken Doll's 58 Plastic Surgeries

While everyone was bustling about talking about Valeria Lukyanova being the "Human Barbie," there was another in the world striving for plastic perfection.

A British National but Brazilian born individual, Rodrigo Alves began the first of his inevitable 58 plastic surgeries at only 17 years old and has since become notorious, or infamous at least, for what many can only describe as an "obsession with plastic surgery," as he transformed himself into the "Human Ken Doll." His impressive list of surgeries has included: butt lifts, nose jobs, chest implants, hair implants and even a surgical procedure which gave him a surprisingly impressive "artificial eight-pack!"

Of course, it's not been cheap by any means. So far he has spent over half a million dollars on his procedures, traveled the entire world seeking the right doctor for each one, and is standing at having spent $588,000 right now. According to a recent interview with The Sun Online, he still considers himself an unfinished product.

Rodrigo told The Sun:

I was born in the wrong body and I have spent my entire life trying to reveal the real me.

He believes that our society is wrong to make plastic surgery so taboo and apparently has made it one of his goals to break down the taboo and normalize lifestyles like his. He believes, and intends to prove, that there are "many benefits to drastically changing one's appearance."

Alves had a relatively normal childhood but he knew he was different from early on. He knew he was unlike his peers because he found himself "fixated" on the princes in his favorite animated Disney films. He found himself so obsessed that he "deperately desired to become a real-life version of them."

Today, Alves has spent 17 years cosmetically and surgically altering his appearance.

His first surgery was in 2000 where he says:

My first plastic surgery was at the age of 17 when I was diagnosed with gynecomastia, the growth of male breast and chest tissue.

I had an operation to remove the excess tissue. I knew then that plastic surgery was available, but I was far too young for having all that I wanted done which was to reinvent myself.

While many people may find Alves's look to be strikingly unnatural, he isn't concerned. He is happy with himself and believes that is what matters most. He says:

I get a lot of attention due to my artificial looks, but I finally love myself and that is the most important thing of all.

People may think I am crazy, I am not. I have had psychological help. I was born in the wrong body.

In fact, Alves did receive years of therapy. When his family first saw him after his first few surgeries they were very concerned. After overcoming their shock they actually staged an intervention with him and insisted that he seek a therapist. After his first year of therapy, Alves was diagnosed with a condition called "Body Dysmorphic Disorder." BDD gives sufferers a distorted perception of their physical appearance. For Avles, he believes the only way to combat his disorder is to continue to alter his appearance to achieve his perception of perfection.

Recently, Alves has finally shared photos from his childhood and pre-surgery self and shared a lot about his journey and why he made changes. We can see young photos of him looking pretty darn adorable, and normal, but according to Avles that did not stop the other children from bullying him specifically for his appearance.

Alves says he was made fun of for having a "wide nose," and at one time he was even shoved face-first into a urinal.

Alves believes that because he suffers Body Dysmorphic Disorder that he is a great spokesperson. He is very passionate about body image issues and has recently become an "Ambassador" with Aesthetic Academy in the USA and tackles all things plastic surgery related. Part of his work includes discussing how plastic surgery can help those who suffer BDD and breaking down negative perceptions people have about cosmetic surgery.

But that's not all that there has been to his journey. Rodrigo told The Sun about how his journey began 17 years ago:

Although I was born in Brazil, I am actually a British national and I went to university in London. While I was a student, I had my first few surgeries but with poor results. I was very young and I would just on-line surgeons on-line and go to the most expensive ones in Harley Street.

This taught me that expensive doesn’t mean good quality and that what makes a good surgeon is the practice. The more a surgeon practices the better they are – and as plastic surgery isn’t as much a part of British culture as it is in Brazil and the US, I found it hard to find doctors who had that flair.

Alves says that he stayed in London for 3 years finishing his degree at University but when he graduated he found out that he had a medical condition that affected his testosterone. This left him "unable to develop muscles." Steroids failed to solve his problem and seemed to only complicate things more, including resulting in hair loss where he wanted hair and hair growth where he didn't. He explained:

They caused hair to grow on my body but triggered hair loss on my head. At that point I had already had three nose jobs and few lipo treatments, but I wasn’t happy with my look still.

I can only describe it as having a feeling that I was born in the wrong body.

In my dreams I look a certain way, but then getting up in the morning and looking at myself in the mirror I didn’t recognize myself.

He spoke of his terrifying, paralyzing experience:

About five years ago I had gel fillers called aqualift injected into my arms, biceps, triceps and shoulders in São Paulo.

It left me paralyzed for three weeks as I was so badly infected – it is the single procedure that I regret having most.

I have had 16 liposuction procedures all over my body including sculpting a fake six pack and enhancing chest silicone implants."The Sun

Despite how frequently he has undergone the knife, it's not been without consequences. Rodrigo explained:

I can’t have any more lipo procedures because internally my body is a web of scar tissue. So now, for the first time in my life, I’m going to the gym everyday and trying to stay fit and healthy like everyone else does – not by booking in for a sculpting treatment.

While he's not quite done, Alves says he's almost there and is very happy with himself and very happy that he has become the official ambassador on the subject of body image and plastic surgery.

"I have been honoured by the Aesthetic Academy in the USA and from now on I am will be speaking openly about plastic surgery to break the taboos and to teach people from my own experiences in a simple and easy going way without medical terminology."The Sun “I am exotic, I am good looking. I think people look at me because I look different. I know exactly what I look like.”Instagram "'I'm saying goodbye to liposuction. I'm not saying that I won’t have another face lift when I want to or when I need to, I'm just changing my lifestyle which means a good diet and for the first time in my life, facing the gym."Instagram "My mind and my soul matches to what I see in the mirror."Instagram

And if you're still not satisfied with all things "Human Ken Doll," this revealing interview is certainly profound.

It's important to learn and embrace your flaws, otherwise, you may have regrets like these people who are ashamed of their plastic surgery transformation fails.
