Dude Brings Entire Family To Meet Unwilling Girlfriend Working As A Server, Leaving Her Extremely Annoyed
She met his family for the first time while serving them and others at the restaurant.
This is a new low of insensitivity, honestly. Before we read what happened, here's something from me.
Don't force people into meeting your family until they're ready to meet them on their own time, terms, and in their own ways. When someone refuses to meet your family, take that as gospel truth, and don't ambush them with what you think is right.
But apparently, Redditor FamGFServer didn't get the memo. His girlfriend, whom he met a few months ago, works as a server in a restaurant.
He asked his girlfriend to meet his parents a few times, but she, according to him, "always had an excuse for why she couldn't."
He should have respected his girlfriend's wishes and waited for her to be ready to meet his parents. I mean, normally, that's what a person would do, but not him.
When his entire family was in town, he ambushed his girlfriend, who was at work, by bringing them all to the restaurant where she worked as a server.
We'll let him tell everything that happened, but in the end, he says, "... it went well, and I am kind of annoyed that she can't see that." Really?
Obviously, this story went viral on Reddit, and over 2.7K people commented, all telling him it was wrong and that he should apologize.
We'll let him take over.
When she said no, he should've listened.
FamGFServerA huge tip doesn't make it okay.
FamGFServerOP risked her job to make his family feel good.
FamGFServer
Really? Wow.
FamGFServer
Reddit explodes with comments.
When he posted his story online, he was probably hoping someone would acknowledge how wrong his girlfriend was to act like that. But that's not what happened.
Here are some of the best comments.
Exactly.
FamGFServer
I'd be pissed too.
FamGFServer
OP blindsided her without giving her a heads-up about bringing his entire family over.
FamGFServer
OP must apologize.
FamGFServer
LOL. I didn't mean to laugh, but so true.
FamGFServer
Yep, 100%.
FamGFServer
Yes, OP should've waited for her to be ready.
FamGFServer
Exactly.
FamGFServer
Solid facts, OP.
FamGFServer
That too, for the first time.
FamGFServer
OP wasn't thinking straight, for sure.
FamGFServer
I hope you read this, OP.
FamGFServer
OP shouldn't have conspired like this.
FamGFServer
It went well for OP, not for his girlfriend, who's probably humiliated.
FamGFServer
She was at her job, dude. You should've respected her right to privacy.
FamGFServer
LOL.
FamGFServer
Exactly.
FamGFServer
OP was wrong to do that.
FamGFServer
Exactly.
FamGFServer
LMAO.
FamGFServer
In Summary...
I think we can all agree that OP was wrong to bring his entire family to the restaurant where his girlfriend worked. It was unfair for her to meet them like this.
Sure, it went well for OP because his girlfriend had to maintain her composure since she was at work. Nobody likes to be surprised like this, and for that, OP should make it up to her.
I wouldn't be surprised if she dumped him for making this intentional mistake, but if she doesn't, he should consider himself lucky to have her, honestly.
It's wrong to corner people because they don't want to do things you'd like them to do. I hope OP learns a lesson.
