Customer Exposes Kohls Black Friday Scam In Viral TikTok Video

“Someone, sound the alarm; the prices are getting hiked!”

A 28-year-old woman refused to let a “60% off” sticker slide, and her TikTok turned into a full-on Black Friday reality check. Trisha Colwell spotted a set of Disney Minnie Mouse luggage at Kohls, and instead of just rolling her eyes, she went straight to the price tag.

In the video, she shows the deal math that looks great at first glance, $440 crossed out down to $176 after the discount. Then she peels the sticker and reveals the original tag underneath, $319.99, which makes that “60% off” claim feel more like a magic trick than a bargain.

The kicker is that the comments are split, because the legality, the math, and the blame all depend on what you notice before you buy.

A Kohls customer, Trisha Colwell, revealed in a now-viral TikTok video a price hike during the Black Friday sales of the company.

She noticed that a newer price tag had been placed over the original price of a set of Disney’s Minnie Mouse luggage.

That’s when Trisha starts removing the sticker in real time, and the whole “deal” falls apart on camera.

In her video, she showed the Disney luggage on sale at Kohls for 60% off. The camera then moves to the price tag, which reads $440 before the deal, bringing the total to $176 after the discount.

She then removes the sticker, revealing that the luggage had an original price tag of $319.99. In other words, a 60% discount would be much lower than $176.

Thoughts and opinions

As expected, other people shared their opinions on the matter.

Right after the $440-to-$176 claim, the hidden $319.99 tag comes into view, and shoppers watching at home immediately do their own math.

The comment section explodes with Ross comparisons, inflation jokes, and people arguing that the new price is all that “counts.”

Even Trisha’s “partner” moment cannot distract from the fact that, in Ohio, there is no clear state rule that stops this kind of price game.

The legality of the situation

This is because no state law directly bans price gouging in Ohio. Unfortunately, many stores do the same thing, and unless you've been tracking the prices for that desired item, you are not going to notice it.

Trisha’s TikTok proves that Black Friday deals can change, but the fine print always stays.
