They might leave behind family members, friends, and memories, but they often gain more valuable experiences in their new surroundings, which lead them to choose to stay.

Take Aly, a TikToker with the username 'USA Mom in Germany,' who shared her reasons for never dreaming of returning to the U.S. after marrying her German husband. She posted the video in response to another TikToker named Brittney Ariane Vela, who asked other expats why they decided to settle abroad for good instead of going back to the U.S.

With over 722K followers, Aly uses the platform to inform people about the differences between countries and share her real-life experiences. Although moving to Germany wasn't easy due to the language barrier, she loves many aspects of the country, one of which is the slower pace of life.

Although she has a better life now, Aly revealed that she misses several things about the USA. "Aside from my family back home, I miss a lot about Southern U.S. culture," she stated.

Aly's experience illustrates the reality for everyone who chooses to settle down in a foreign place. It doesn't mean they hate their country when they decide to leave; they simply want a better life for themselves and their loved ones.
